I don't think he dodged the DRM questions. He didn't get into the specific restrictions - which probably vary according to content owner anyway - but he made it clear that although he personally thinks DRM is a bad idea, the vast majority of content owners require it before allowing their content to be shared. Its really a pity too, I'm sure many people (myself included) would be willing to pay for an unprotected digital copy of works we enjoy, but when you add DRM on top of that, it simply pushes people away in hordes. And to choose legal or illegal content is simply a matter of typing in one website or another.

[...] A BitTorrent supported TV-network will have a great advantage compared to competing services, because it will be able to save on resources, and keep the bandwidth bills relatively low. Patterson did not disclose any further details on the upcoming TV-network. BitTorrent founder Bram Cohen told us that his company is working on streaming support for BitTorrent.
The BitTorrent protocol needs one more feature. Whenever I start a popular download through my DSL line, I receive what amounts to a denial of service attack from lots of other clients attempting to connect. Makes BitTorrent basically unusable, unless I want to walk away from my computer until the download is finished.

Bram dodged the questions about working with the MPAA and DRM. I wish the interviewer would have pushed a little harder for answers on these issues.

One interesting bit of info on the interview - the real reason for purchasing uTorrent.

BitTorrent.inc needed C source code for a good torrent program for chips that will download stuff via BitTorrent. (Ernesto has a post here about the first such chip being unveiled)

uTorrent's clean code and native C++ language solves that problem well.

[...] BitTorrent’s Bram Cohen has stated that the company’s upcoming content platform will be open to all clients, but its new client won’t be open source anymore.
Exactly what needed to happen. The more the industry can adapt to technology like this (as well as evolving business models) the better chance it has of remaining viable in the future, for the long-run.

This might just make an honest consumer out of me after all.
