Thanks for linking to my site!

There are actually parallel discussions with regard to online copyright enforcement in Switzerland:

1. AGUR12, a working group with representatives of many (however, not all!) stakeholders including the American entertainment industry. AGUR12 will publish its final report in December 2013. It is expected to recommend file-sharer warnings, rules on provider liability etc. AGUR12 meetings were non public, but summaries of the meetings were published.

https://www.steigerlegal.ch/2013/11/24/urheberrecht-was-fordert-der-agur12-schlussbericht/

2. An American-Swiss roundtable behind closed doors with representatives of the American embassy in Switzerland, the American entertainment industry and various Swiss authorities. Main topic is probably the so-called 'Logistep' decision by the Swiss Federal Court a few years ago. The decision made it difficult to identify file-sharers by simply collecting their IP addresses for privacy reasons, i.e., there has not been significant prosecution of illegal file-sharing in the last few years … The roundtable is apparently trying to find a way around the court decision. The discussions are secret, however, I was able to gather some information through the Swiss Federal Freedom of Information Act (mainly meetings agendas, in German only):

Can you imagine the (EFF) Electronic Freedom Foundation without the USA? It could not exist in the EU or China. Thought the Supreme Court might at times be regressive the Bill of Rights is still the single most important document on the planet.

RIP Pim Fortuyn
I think it is more a case that your country is being pressured by the EU. Or as some people call it the EUSSR. Hell they are even trying to attack the Germans on laws regarding sex workers.
I lived in the Netherlands in the 1990's, one might call them the Glory Years. You urgently need to seek your freedom from the EU and become part of the EFTA and reassert your core values. Netherlands needs its own Bill of Rights to enshrine all the core values. The ECHR does not achieve this.
You also need to start repatriating the islamic infiltration, another task that can only be undertaken from outside the EU.

I must confess I have more and more difficulties to continue reading articles, TorrentFreak's included, which still use terms "pirated content" and the like. Could you, for common sense's sake, stop proxying the copyright industry's leitmotiv, please?

May i suggest that a world modelled after my country would be far from the ideal place you apparently think it would be ?
Some reasons why :

They basically outlawed the spreading of custom made subtitles in October, to which end the rancid pustules from Stichting Brein have taken it upon themselves to start closing down subtitle websites left and right.

Then there's the Christian centrist/right, which is pushing for re-criminalising prostitution, halting progress on Abortion and Euthanasia laws every step of the way.

There's the so called Liberals, who are turning healthcare into a bloody cash cow, reversing the current policy on Marijuana together with the Christians, even going so far as to suggest outlawing it, and pushing for laws that make copying/downloading for personal use illegal, thanks to copywrong troll bribes across the board (Hell, half the Judges in this country that specialise in copyright law are in the fucking industry's pocket)...

So no, i don't see a bright future ahead of us if my little country were to be held as a shining example to the world.
At the current rate, we'll be America 2.1 in no time flat.

"This is moving towards censorship and arises from a totalitarian approach."

Copyright has been a control tool from the beginning.
And now, the biggest right-holders preach for dictatorial control over their so-called "property". Right to sue anyone on sight, right to turn off parts of the Internet, right to send special armed forces to arrest one individual, right to ask any personal information on anyone from anyone, right to decide anything forever (or as long as the next 20 years... extended for 20 more years every 20 years), and so on. Preferably, all those rights have to be enforceable by themselves on their own authority. No pesky judge or trials, except to charge millions on a mother for downloading a few music files, to serve as an example...
If that is not a totalitarian approach, what is?

"including by taking steps to ensure that rights holders can protect their rights"

Why in the fuck should switzerland give one shit about US monopoly holders.

when they embrace privacy instead they are going to become the biggest cloud service industry and hosting providers on the planet. They stand to make waaaay more money doing that instead of trying to kiss the ass of hollywood.

As does everyone hollywood approaches.
