1. To all you “Fag-Haters” out there – I have been HIV+ for 6 years now and completely off of my meds for over a year – and I haven’t died yet.

Since that time, GTN has reverted back to it’s old ways by promoting undeserving members and punishing people who don’t go along with the current regime. Plus, when I first stumbled upon GTN, it was a “freer” site – there weren’t rules but rather guidlines and it worked – everyone behaved. Not true anymore so it was time for me to leave.

4. NO – my computers have never been seized and I am still around on various other sites. I will never share anything Titan-related again because I’ve been warned – twice. But there are others out there who will continue to do so. I am not encouraging them or helping them to do this in any way – take my situation as a legitimate warning – they are watching and you will be caught eventually.

Maybe everyone involved should be extradited to a country like Saudi Arabia, where that kind of stuff is a severe violation of their laws there.

And AIDS is really not that amusing. It’s not a gay disease and it kills many people across the globe every day. (As in it is the cause of their death, not the thing that actually kills them, so don’t start.) Those people include children who inherit it from their parents. He would have been served with a lawsuit alleging that he violated copyright by uploading those films. The lawsuit (complaint, technically) would have claimed that he caused $1.275 million in damage to the plaintiff. The $1.275M is probably what the statutory damages works out to be for 17 films, I haven’t done the math.

The defendant then failed to respond to the lawsuit. By failing to respond, he let the plaintiffs win “by default” – the same as if an opposing sports team doesn’t show up for a game.

So, the defendant lost his right to argue about the facts or the damages because he failed to participate in the legal process, and the plaintiffs get whatever it was they were asking for.

Of course, getting a $1.275M default judgment against someone isn’t really the same thing as actually collecting it – nor does it mean that the person stops doing what they were doing. In a literal sense, the only thing that’s happened to the defendant so far has been that he received some paperwork which he ignored. Chances are the original lawsuit also requested that the defendant be ordered to stop pirating movies, too.

Hence, the judge’s comments that if he doesn’t start paying attention to the court’s orders, he’s going to be looking at jail time, not just financial consequences that don’t mean much to people who don’t have anything in the first place. (I don’t know what the uploader guy has, maybe he’s a multimillionaire – but chances are if he was, he’d have defended himself.)
