The copyright owner can also create a Bieber license that says (in essence after going through the legal department) "non-transferable license to view the content for Justin Bieber and no-one else." We're not talking about just anyone here, Lorenzo Fertitta follows TMZ and after going past their tweets about Bieber and a mop bucket, Bieber and some logo, Bieber and some cup, Bieber and Selena, Bieber and something about NFL, Bieber shirtless... nope they didn't tweet about it.

Oh, wait, how stupid of me. Fertitta follows Dana and Dana retweeted Bieber. Ergo Bieber reached the CEO of UFC. Does the CEO own the copyright? If the CEO makes a new copy would that be unlawful? If UMC don't have distribution rights have you checked to see if Bieber's tweet reached the relevant person via retweets (or if said person already follows Bieber?)

Your bad faith assumption (and that of Torrentfreak) is that Bieber asked millions of people for a pirate copy whereas if you assumed good faith you might have thought about "six degrees of separation" - Bieber to UFC CEO: two degrees of separation. With approximately 0.002% of the planet using twitter regularly and overlapping interests between those we follow and those who follow us I'm certain if Bieber tweeted something that had relevance to me it would show up in my twitter feed before it makes news (whether that be via a poker player, classical guitarist, singer, actor, security analyst, bodybuilder, my MP, an IRL friend, or in a theoretical case of Bieber slapping a swan: via Daffy Duck, The Queen, the Canal & River Trust, and RSPB Scotland).

And if person A holds the copyright or is in a position to offer it for free? 41.5 million followers is approximately 0.00058% of the population of the planet.

Out of interest, looked at https://connect.data.com/directory/company/list/gjvdhUKUDxNKt0SoE5xOpQ/ultimate-fighting-championship-ufc ... the first UFC director for marketing is Caren Bell (CarenBellUFC on twitter) who... follows Justin Bieber.

I don't really fancy going through the entire list of directors, but the suggestion of Bieber asking for a legitimate copy not being possible?

Unless he was talking about VHS, "send it to me" could mean anything. If someone asks me for a copy of Skype they'll get a link. Windows 8 they'll get this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx. A Bieber song... "Google it. I don't want to hear him on his website/Youtube/Myspace/etc."

UFC? Can't be bothered to Google it. I don't follow Bieber so don't have a clue what country he is/was in, but wouldn't be surprised if regional content restrictions exist. Suggesting pay per view (ignoring the fact it had finished) is a bit like suggesting South Park Studios to someone in the UK or "go to ABC.com/NBC.com/syfy.com/etc".

And that's ignoring the fact he's famous. UFC's response is a bit odd... I'm sure if he asked for someone to send him some Coca-Cola or a ticket/invite to the next movie premier he wants to see the relevant marketing departments would jump at the chance.
