Kim Dotcom: If I Was President of the United States….

Kim Dotcom makes no secret of the fact that he holds U.S. President Barack Obama personally responsible for the destruction of Megaupload. The outspoken Internet phenom is determined to uncover the political scandal behind Megaupload’s demise and wants Obama to be voted out of office. But what would Dotcom do if he was the most powerful man in the world? Let’s find out.

For five days in a row Kim Dotcom’s tweets directed at Barack Obama were the most retweeted mentions of the U.S. President, a sign that Dotcom’s vendetta against the forces that shuttered Megaupload is clearly being noticed.

And the Megaupload founder is not planning to go silent anytime soon. He’s busy using his online influence to stir up the hornet’s nest.

Talking to TorrentFreak, Dotcom says that the number of people siding with him is growing.

“Every day more people speak out and disagree with the U.S. government’s actions against Megaupload. Millions of users still don’t have access to their files. Internet users in the U.S. and around the world are outraged,” Dotcom says.

Dotcom’s latest Obama tweet

megaupload

As a result of the Megaupload shutdown 220 people lost their jobs and millions more lost access to their personal files. Dotcom believes that the U.S. is stifling innovation on the Internet and is urging President Obama to reverse his actions before it’s too late. He’s demanding the Change once promised by Obama.

That got us thinking – what would Kim Dotcom do if he was the President of the United States? What would he change aside from bringing back Megaupload?

Luckily Dotcom was happy to oblige. He made a list of 15 things he would do differently if he was President of the United States of America, changes that go beyond Internet issues.

1. Stop all wars the United States are involved in (offline and online).

2. Make peace and negotiate diplomatic settlements with all enemies.

3. Stop interfering with other nations unless help was asked for.

4. Stop supporting Israel’s aggression against Palestine and its other neighbors.

5. Cut military spending to the minimum required for a “defense” force.

6. Use military savings and other cuts to level the budget.

7. Stop sending trash to Mars and instead cure diseases on earth.

8. Focus on alternative fuel and energy strategies.

9. Keep the Internet open, free from censorship and stop spying on citizens.

10. Make lobbying and political donations illegal and fund political campaigns with taxes.

11. Tax citizens with the highest income the most and with the smallest income the least.

12. Increase the number of class rooms / teachers and pay teachers with the best results most.

13. Reform the justice and prisons system and reduce the number of prisoners.

14. Protect the environment and stop unnecessary pollution.

15. Fix all other problems.

While it’s “unlikely” that Dotcom will ever become President of the United States, there’s a more than a decent chance of him beating the U.S. Government in court. When that happens and as part of the process, Dotcom hopes to bring down the people who were responsible for Megaupload’s destruction.

Dotcom says he has evidence that Vice President Joe Biden was the one who ordered the shutdown of Megaupload. According to Dotcom the takedown is the result of a corrupt system in which Hollywood paid for Megaupload’s demise through political donations.

“The MPAA paid for this takedown with Hollywood’s re-election donations. Former Senator and now MPAA CEO Chris Dodd called in the favors he earned during his political career. The Megaupload story is one of corruption and abuse of power. Hollywood could not have written a better political thriller,” he says.

“Over the last few months many legal experts called the shutdown of Megaupload unlawful and unconstitutional. But the U.S. government is celebrating Megaupload’s takedown by handing out awards for example to the Hong Kong Department of Justice. Yet nobody has been found guilty of any crime, and nobody ever will, because Megaupload was perfectly legal,” Dotcom adds.

Like President Obama, Kim Dotcom is eager to go forward. In the coming months he will debut the music service Megabox and if all goes well Megaupload might just make a comeback too.

Please tell me how he would exactly do all this?  He’s the president not a fucking dictator…I would like SOME of those things to happen but he probably has no idea how the political system works, and saying something doesn’t make it come true its not a fairytale.

Read the article again O_o.  He never said he was running for it or anything – he just got asked that, given how much critique he has of how Obama is running his country, what he would do differently.

It’s no different than if someone asked me what i’d do if I was president.  You wouldn’t start insulting me and telling me that I know nothing.  Calm down, dude.

“7. Stop sending trash to Mars”

I’ve never heard such an idiotic statement from Kim. Surely you don’t believe the Earth with last forever? Our scientists will be our saviors on the day the world ends. And they’ll use that “Mars trash” to help us do it.

        • BeNice

          “Stop sending trash to Mars”
You know what’s interesting about that comment?
In a recent RT interview, he was asked what he’d be doing if he weren’t doing what he currently is.
His response indicated that he supports Mars exploration.
So, either he got caught in a lie, or he was actually just referring to the quality of the Mars programs (ie, they should be sending humans or better exploration technology, instead of the trash they’ve been sending).

“Surely you don’t believe the Earth with last forever?”

Not forever maybe. But several billions years yes.
With or without humanity. The only things powerful enough to destroy Earth would be the end of our Sun or an rough encounter with another galaxy. And if something like that happened, being on Earth or Mars wouldn’t make any difference.
So if you want to live, it’s better to stop the pollution on Earth, instead of starting it on Mars.

The sun has over 10 billion years left. The earth however will be engulfed by the heat as the sun STARTS to die in 1.1 billion years. That’s 1,100,000,000 years and only 22 thousand times larger than your number of 50,000 years. You were close but not quite there, Timmy.

If Kim were President, he would sit onto Obama and squash him. He would then proceed to squash on all those dirty rotten scoundrel congress members who take bribes and back-handers from the corrupt elite and powerful.

In this way, Kim will have pretty much overnight removed the corrupt from both Houses, where Kim can then proceed to lead the US to a brighter, more united, more prosperous country, free from cronyism and corruption.

God Bless Kim Dotcom and the U.S. of A.

      • meowmix

the problems is… the political system does not work. the us is a two party system. there is no way for anything to change becasue both sides, are in esssence, just as corrupt.you need a third, or more, political party to represent what americans what. funny how the rest of the free world has multie parties one can vote for. in america, you have right wing wingnuts or right wing light. how sad.

        • Guest

I live in Greece and although EU is fully controlling our government we have multiparty system (although before 2012 we had something like America’s system), it’s hard to imagine why the hell anyone speaks, make a demonstration etc. in order to abolish the USA’s 2-party system. Either the media are trying to cover this or indeed nothing happens.

        • Anon Fr

          Cute..
In France you have multiple parties, sure.. but only the two major ones (equivalent of your left and right wings) ever counts, they have more money and the hands on the medias. We only have the illusion of choice, they always tell the cattle who to vote for.

      • Chuck

Are you kidding?  His list the the EXACT SAME THING that we get during the campaign promises.  Neither HE, NOR THEY ever have any intentions of fulfilling ANY of their promises.. How us idiots make voting choices based on BS promises is beyond me.  We should be making choices based on their PAST TRACK RECORD!

        • Mined

He it is an utopist is easy to see he dont know how political works , rich people it is the real problem , becouse they are greedy always will try to keep them all goods for they , they will use money to buy influence , power, to bribe , to make laws for protecting their business,to keep  shitty egoist life style , to keep monopoly , power, to stop evolution , to stop all changes and  reforms , for they – inventions , evolution , reforms and changes mean money loosing , mean power, monopoly loosing mean finally they will need to work, to listen what others vote and says and these are nightmares for that kind of people (subhuman parasites)
Lets be realistic democracy in pure forms never exited – it is just a fake to foolish people to belive they can have freedom of choice , riches always rules beyound laws becouse have power to manipulate masses , we all livin in a different kind of prisons without bars – systems – whos make the rules for these systems – exactly – greedy fat riches – and always been like that just read history of humanity and understand it
and btw nobody can become rich if it is honest and respect laws 100% , if he real work , all riches becomes riches becouse breaking laws in many forms becouse use imoral malicious methods -today many makes tax evasion , bribe or blackmail corrupted politicians to make some “good laws” for their business, make lobby, or directly becomes politicians to make what they want etc etc

So after all of that and if people knows what i say since of humanity inception WHY PEOPLE STILL  DO NOTHING TO CHANGE ? maybe becouse many are like their “masters” [corrupted, greedy etc] cowards, traitors ,liars which hope in one day they will win the big pot and will become one of “masters corporations” and will enslave and manipulate others

SHIT AND PRIMITIVE WORLD ! NOTHING MORE …world is doomed becouse of greed and stupidity

Read up on history. Jews have been living in Israel for all recorded history. The Romans (Christians) conquered it from the Jews, then the Muslims fought with the Christians over it for a few centuries. Now the Jews have it back exactly as it was in the days of the earliest historians like Herodotus and Thucydides.

        • patterson

Then how do you explain the Arab massacres of Jews that took place long before Israel was a country?  The Jaffa riots in 1920, the Jerusalem riots, the Nebi Musa riots, the Hebron massacre in 1929 when 67 Jews were murdered and many others. All of these took place long before any of the event you claim justify Palestinian terrorism.

        • patterson

Also, being that you are going in that direction, you might like to start justifying all anti-Semitism in general.

        • Guest

           patterson

There is fault on both sides.
          Palestinians are Semites too.

        • jjjj

I refuse to take sides in this and for the US to support either side instead of trying to resolve conflicts (or keeping tfo) is irresponsible.

Look at the history of Europe. We’ve had world wars, invasions, massacres, countries have changed rulers, governments, nationalities, and now in the 21st century throughout most of Europe things have settled down to something like civilised society.

By contrast, the conflict between Israel and Palestine is fuelled by squabbling between big-headed politicians, religious radicals basing their actions on nothing more than an ancient book of bullshit, and is currently one of the most likely conflicts to cause the end of the world as we know it.

        • Popehat

To “Mike” and “Patterson” The people living in “Isreal” have the last of the palistinion population in a concentration camp. and your defense to this is that the jews originally owned the land 80 to thousands of years back and so this makes that ok. And whats even more disturbing is people agreed with you. Are you religious because you are talking shit.

What a stupid moron. Israel is providing gas, electricity and water not just to the Palestinian Authority, but even to HAMAS and Gaza. Yes, that’s Hamas, the terrorist organization founded in order to destroy Israel, thatn explicitly calls for the murder of ALL JEWS. The terrorist supporting Palestinians that voted for them are now being supported by Israel. In the existence of the world, no country has every supported those that they to destroy it the way that Israel is supporting the Palestinians.

        • Humblekings

I did support Kim Dotcom till I read #4. The israeli’s have a right to defend themselves after years and years of attacks. The palestinians forget that the israeli’s had the land way before them. They have also made huge concessions to them and the palestinians still call for the complete destruction of israel.

It wasn’t an Arab area. We destroyed the Ottoman Empire. To the victors go the spoils. It was British territory to do with as we pleased. It just so happened the League of Nations and the United Nations agreed.
Funny how you suggest the Palestinians are caged. Have you noticed their back doors open onto Egypt and Jordan or is map reading beyond you?  It’s other Arabs keeping them their as a running sore, they can’t cope with getting their arses kicked in 1947.
Israel isn’t a country, it’s a refuge for the Jewish race created by the UN, including the USSR, after a thousand years of murder experienced across Europe and the East.  They are quite right to keep all non jews out.

        • Anonymous

Israel has been hated for several thousands of years.
Check throughout history and you will come to see Israel is descendants of Isaac.
The Palestinian countries are all descendants of Ishmael.

Ishmael is the first born son of Abraham but Isaac was the son that received his inheritance. Since this point in history the countries have always been at war with each other since before countries even existed.

Sigh, it’s the case on both sides but to a lesser extent. Some Jews do grow up hating Arabs. This particular gripe he has with the U.S. did make me think less of him though. Why is only a problem when it’s a country which is a rival to the United States? Why didn’t President Obama issue any statements about Likud politicians saying that Sudanese refugees were infiltrators?

Got my vote, but only if he replaces number 7. We need to send trash to mars, it’s how we discover about the universe, ourselves and advance forth in science.
What he should do is tax religion which would rake in 71 billion every year, and enough to send a 2.5 billion piece of trash to mars every two weeks forever, and still have money left over.

Now, before you think about starting a flame war or calling me a troll, go and Google just how much the church spends of all they receive, and what they spend it all on. Not much of it is used for the purpose it should, because it is corrupt just like the government, if not more.

Curiosity costs a tiny fraction of the US budget
without the needless wars you could send a whole fleet to Mars ;)

      • Jason Wright

The biggest issue is that NASA is literally sending the trash of our science to mars.

We have the ability to create insanely better technology to send on the journey, but they do not because NASA is stuck in an outdated way of doing things.

Hows that rocket propulsion going? Oh right, its outdated and has been for many years.

The biggest issue is that the war on free energy is what actually truly affects NASA, as most of the other forms of traveling to space actually use a technology that creates its own energy.

NASA just needs a little bit of a restructure. Sure, those Nazi scientists from project paperclip were super smart all those years ago – But sadly they layed a groundwork for an organisation that would find itself obsolete by the private market.

    • Lol

Well he IS right. We should care more with our own planet rather than try to escape to a new one and ruin another planet.

here you wrong: its human species mission do destroy all other species, conquer, loot, burn and ruin them(this has already happened in history, and you cant change human nature, it will happen again and history repeats itself).

ofc we want go to other planets but saddly unless you invent hyperspeed we wont be seeing other earth like planets. unless we send probe with human cell.. and when probe lands to new earth like planet it would release human cell in that there would born girl and boy they would start new civilations ofcourse you would need 100-1000 cells to apply survive there

Spending on War, banks, tax cuts for rich, subsidies etc….. while people can’t afford healthcare , don’t have a job or a home etc….

Relative to the problems that need money thrown at them NOW….. Mars rovers are way down there, in every sane persons priorities.

      • Asd

The technologies developed by Nasa end up being used in civilian applications. You don’t just give money to scientists and tell them to solve X – it takes a series of scientific and engineering breakthroughs before you get it.

exactly, it’s not just a fancy toy that tries to find water on Mars, it’s a research project that will yield discoveries useful on earth as well

it might not cure diseases (you never know, it just might ;)) but it will surely deliver other useful stuff
it also inspires children to get into scientific jobs

        • Guest

It won’t cure diseases, deliver social justice, save the middle class, or elevate the poor.

Exploring Mars is neat and all, but holy fucking shit, there are some more important causes right here on Earth that need more attention.

        • Anyone

the whole Nasa budget is equivalent to about 2.5% of the military budget of the US

cut the military budget, tax the rich and all the problems would be fixed
exploring Mars is neat, it leads to scientific breakthroughs and is relatively cheap when compared to pointless wars in the middle east (or the equally pointless war on drugs)

irrelevant, and not even a rebuttal to what I said.
FYI… you do “just give money to NASA”, if they want to go to mars.

          @f05af58b8c10e93b3595bb996aad4e5d:disqus
I agree it’s important, but tell that to a person who has lost their home because of medical costs and lost their savings because of no government regulation.

I am all for NASA, they should get more funding. But priorities being what they are for lot’s of people living here, in poverty and sickness now.  The Mars missions “SEEM” to be over expenditures and a waste of money that is needed elsewhere.

Of course they are important for man, but so is feeding your kids and getting them a proper education, having a home, a job etc….
If you were to list them as priorities for people, the NASA missions would be way down there.

THIS is not an argument against NASA, it’s a pointing out of reality.
Where is funding NASA,  on the list of priorities for you?
Does it come before your health, job, children, home ?

          it comes above military spending
so you don’t have to touch any important programs, just take 2.5% out of the military budget and NASA is fully funded ;)

One question: was the lightbulb invented by some guy (Edison probably stole the concept) staring at a candle for hours before getting the idea? No, it was discovered through research in electricity. ¨Stop researching electricity! We need light, not fancy arcs!¨ is equivalent to ¨Stop sending thrash to mars, we need to cure cancer!¨. We very rarely have all the variables affecting our lives. You can’t just ask scientists to just find a cure for cancer. Just like the lightbulb, they’re not likely to find an answer by looking at tumor radiography for hours. We need research in every fields to cover every fronts that might give us answers.

Stop deifying nature and oversimplifying the relationships between everything that makes our world hold together ; Rationalize and see how thing as they truly are, with the less bias possible, then think about how they should be ; Don’t be afraid of idealism ; Stop making empty and useless affirmations: ¨We’re all doomed¨ doesn’t lead us anywhere good.

They cured it long ago, however because the doctors, cops, big pharma, and others are so corrupt, they arrest those that speak the truth and try to suppress it to protect all the above. They make money with “support breast cancer awareness, support finding the cure for cancer” even though its already been found long ago, because the cure does not fund their money pit, as they make more off of awareness and donations when the cure has been out long ago. see davidicke.com/forums and do some research also and you will see all I said was true. Its the same reason why the devils drug (alchol) is legal when Gods drug (w33d) is not, because w333d is illigal to support cops, the cia dru()g running cartel, feds, big pharma, oil companies, private prisons to make items then sell to others, paper and textile industry. How do you know if a cop is corrupt? All u have to do is ask this one question “why is w33d illigal and why are you supporting big pharma, the oil industry, paper and textile industry, brick laying industry, and many more when w33d never has harmed anyone? The answer is because he is corrupt. If the pigs just stood up and said fuck you fed, were not arresting ppl for it, then others would do the same etc, however they like the $ flowing in from the govt and additional resources to go after ppl who have w33d, to raise their payroll, win awards, etc. Its total corruption fulll scale.

Lizard man hasn’t got a scooby. Cancer is a term for many various diseases, it is impossible to have a single cure. They are all different in how they affect the body physiologically and will need multiple cures for the multiple cancers.

Stay away from dipshits and their webshites, pick up a book, preferably a science one.

While cannabis does have some benefits, eg. relief of nausea. It will not cure cancer. It has been shown to inhibit growth in some types of tumours, and may have preventative properties for some types of cancer. But it will not eradicate a disease that is already present.

Science has worked all of this out and is finding more out all the time.

      • DisGuested

There won’t be a single cure for cancer, because cancer is an umbrella term for many various diseases.

There will be many cures for the many forms of cancer one day, just not one cure.

@f05af58b8c10e93b3595bb996aad4e5d:disqus  Oh I don’t know. Maybe it’s the UN that condemns Israel at every opportunity. Maybe it’s the Israel left or the bleating international ‘peace’ observers that video and write up every time a Palestinian has his feelings hurt.
Or perhaps it’s the Israeli courts that swiftly kick out Israeli’s from land that Palestinians can show belongs to them.

        • ApeMan

Israel stole all that land like Gaza and Sinai. That’s roughly 80% that they gave back. If the Palestinians weren’t so bloodthirsty they might have a legitimate gripe. But no, machismo culture persists.. gotta keep that feud going so they can steal more money. Each dead Palestinian is worth more to Hamas than alive. Where is Arafat’s widow? Getting Obama out of office wouldn’t do anything, both of the main U.S. political parties are corrupt.

      Mitt Romney arguably more so
he changes position even without being bribed

But Romney isnt friend with all Hollywood top actors and actress.
Republicans HATES Hollywood ! So, if Romney passes, MPAA and RIAA will have less power in Washington. They’ll still have, but not as much as today !

And if Obama is out of office, think that the next president and government will have to rebuild everything, nominate new people at each offices,,, and so on. It will take time, and be sure that if Romney is in office, Hollywood will not be his top prirority !

It’s sad to say that in the Bush years, the internet was not at risk as it is today !

Who pull the plug to seize domain names, Obama
Who nominate Victoria Espinel, the copyright cop in Washington, Obama
Who is president of the MPAA, Chris Dodd, a friend of,,,Biden and Obama
Which governement pull the plug to pass PIPA, Dems
Which governement were the most for backing SOPA, Dems (but the sponsor was a Republican)

My choice is made, Romney, but you know at the end of the day, it’s just about exchange a Hell to another.

        • longlivemega

Your comparison is flawed. Obama and Bush are part of the same project. Obama is just finishing up what Bush started. If Bush were allowed another four years, he would be doing the sames things Obama is doing right now. Also, if Romney were to not focus on Hollywood and the Internet, it would be because he’s focused on even more evil projects. Obama and Romney are both corrupt, evil people. We shouldn’t be voting for either one of them. The “lesser-evil” voting method doesn’t really apply this year because both candidates are so incredibly evil. The Republicrat party needs to die. We need to stop supporting it. Vote third-party or do a write-in.

I like all of these, but #7?  Don’t kill the space program.  Why can’t we have both?  I’m sure the military savings more than make up for funding a space program.

    • Violated0

The US Department of Defense got a $689 billion budget during 2010 where for 2012 they aim for $707 billion. Despite this before more than the rest of the 10 ten countries defense budgets combined (read: overkill) then NASA managed to get an $18.7 billion budget in 2010 and this year it should fall to $17.77 billion.

This means NASA got 2.71% compared to the Defense budget in 2010 and for 2012 this should be even worse at 2.51%.

The US does seriously need to reduce their military budget when that kind of force makes them look like they plan to invade Europe of something. They could easily half their budget and still be number one by a long way.

      • DefenseBudgetFTW

It’s that defense budget that is stoppng the good ole U. S. of A. being even more in debt than the $15 trillion dollars it currently is.

        • Violated0

Most interesting is that if they cut off all the defense budget they could pay off completely all of the $15 trillion debt in 21 years or a few years longer due to the interest.

While that would never happen it does show how important the defense budget is for cutting the national debt. There is no reason for not cutting the defense budget  when as I said the USA spends more than all the following top 9 countries put together.

But of course these people in Congress are crazy when they are not doing any serious cuts which will reduce the national debt when it will simply get higher. It is also impossible for them to ever get rid of the entire national debt when they just let it spiral up with the economy.

        • Anyone

          @Violated0:disqus
it’s actually more than the next 20 military budgets combined

He is wrong on point 7 – It’s not about the actual science of sending something to mars, it’s about the picture and stuff, which inspire children to get into science and go through with higher education so that they might one day find the cure for cancer… instead of doing nothing and flip burgers.

    • Guest

There is nothing stopping them from just staging it all in a disused Hollywood studio like they did for the moon landings!

he needs to understand politics before he shouts his mouth off. both 1 and 2 are impossible.

#7 is also funded by private companies the government has cut tons of spending from NASA try living in Florida and you will know this to be true due to the massive amounts of layoffs.

#9 lol the internet needs to have some kind of censorship, there is to many sick freaks in the world for it not to be.

#10 is a stupid idea, using taxes to fund campaigns is dumb. Media is very very expensive, Traveling to each state is also highly costly, but hey lets use taxes for it, make the hard working citizen pay even more taxes so some political douche bag can travel first class around the states getting people to vote for him. Good idea Dotcom.

#12 is already in effect in a lot of states.

#8 13 and 14 are the only decent ideas up there.

As for the military shit, I don’t agree with the constant war effort, but to turn around and stop military spending is just plain dumb.

    • Esn

No, #10 is an awesome idea. It’s the only way to break the cycle of bribery/lobbying – make everybody get the same amount for their campaign, and no more, so they’re not dependent on rich corporations to even stand a chance at winning. Maybe give them some free air time. Shorten the campaign to one month (like it is in a lot of countries, including Canada) instead of perpetual campaigns – make campaign ads outside of that one month illegal. A one-month campaign won’t be too expensive.

Look at it this way – while you’re winning some dollars by NOT having campaigns funded in taxes, you’re losing a lot more because you get candidates that will only legislate laws that screw you over, and benefit only their biggest campaign donors – because they don’t need you to win, they only care about the privileged.

But don’t just take it from me, Google Martin Gilens’ Oxford study from 2005, “Inequality and Democratic Responsiveness”, which showed that: “when Americans with different income levels differ
in their policy preferences, actual policy outcomes
strongly reflect the preferences of the most affluent but bear
      virtually
no relationship to the preferences of poor or
      middle-income Americans.”

    • Freedom, not censorship

Sorry, no.  The Internet does NOT need “some kind of censorship” – if you don’t want to see something, DON’T LOOK AT IT.

      • PatternGuru714

Tell that to the kids who end up exploited on websites because there’s a demand for it. Limits and laws, man.

        • Freedom, not censorship

Video of Daniel Pearl getting his head cut off is not legally censored, and we all know that it had an extremely bad effect on Mr. Pearl.  The law is against the act of murder.  The video of the crime is free speech.  The unfettered distribution of the video helps authorities who are investigating the crime.  Not only do they get clues from details contained in the video, others viewing the video may recognize things based on those details (which the authorities would not know on their own) and contact authorities to help them in their investigation.

Freedom, not censorship, is the best approach.

        • Guest

You only think that because you’ve been conditioned into believing that it’s bad. much like you’re conditioned into thinking indecent exposure is bad.

the whole of the us electorial system should be reformed. traveling from state to state is a wate of time and money.

  • Puddipuddi

I would say tax everyone equally instead.  We shouldn’t punish people for being successful.  But letting the rich get away with paying almost nothing is worse.  Let everyone pay their fair share.

    • http://fencer-x.tumblr.com/ fencer_x

No one is going to say, “You know what? I don’t to pay more taxes, so I’m not going to try and be more successful!” — You just pour back into the system that helped you become successful in the first place, that’s what a progressive tax rate is about. 20% of $20,000 a year is a HELL of a lot more difficult to swallow and compensate for than that of $200,000 a year. A flat tax rate seems the ‘fairest’ on its surface, but it’s hardly fair in anything more than name.

  • Strawbear

OK all very nice wishful thinking there. Some rebuttals tho.

Military spending doesn’t mean money is vanishing into thin air. The military money goes to contractors for planes, ships and weapons, companies who employ people. It goes to soldiers and support staff.

If you cut military budgets you suddenly end up with a million or more who are unemployed. Do you then re-employ them in some civil post or leave them unemployed? Either way you won’t be able to use all that money to balance the budget.

Rewarding teachers with the best results? Sorry, terrible policy at face value. The best (richest) schools have the best (richest) students and attract the best (paid best) teachers. An inner city teacher who gets their kids up a grade when no one expected it is miles more worthy than some teacher on easy street teaching upperclass private school kids or even middle income polite children.

Pulling america out of the world’s actions. (Isolationism). A naff appeal to everyone who’s against america’s warfare policy whilst forgetting the good they did in the Balkans when Clinton was President. Forgetting the troops they provide for peace keeping forces in countries who don’t want them there.

The US’s recent war choices have been terrible but such un-nuanced ideas as the one’s fat boy kim proposes show a startling lack of thought.

It’s certainly more inspiring than Obama, Megaupload or anything happening on this planet.

I can’t be arsed to do the rest of them, just to say he’s confirmed the suspicions, he’s a chancer made good, a chancer appealing to the masses in a bid to paint himself as some kind of martyr to the cause, when in reality he’d not give a toss about anything that didn’t earn him money.

Stop hero worshipping this idiot. The guy who ran demonoid is far more worth of your concerns than some fat lad who knows how to whip up a half decent PR campaign.

    • KD

      Agreed.
He is a raving lunatic appealing to the masses. But he still deserves to be treated fairly.

    • Guest

I’ll keep hero worshipping Kim Dotcom because doing so pisses the MAFIAA and its goons right the fuck off.

Also because he’s resolved to fight – and royally humiliate – the corrupt US government and its copyright industry sugar daddies instead of going down like a common bitch. That deserves props.

      So, no. Not gonna stop.

      • PatternGuru714

You do realize he’s pretty much the same, putting money in his own pocket and giving even less back to artists? His Megabox is vaporware, and I’ll believe his claims of rewarding artists 90%/directly when it happens. Whatever though.

        • Guest

Yes, he’s pretty much the same as the MAFIAA. He lobbies the government to do his bidding. He conducts illegal raids. Whenever an artist sells an album he takes most of the profits and leaves them with pennies. He tries to halt  progress. He tries to turn the Internet into a surveillence state.

Oh wait, he doesn’t do any of that.

          Try again.

  • Vincent Giannell

I wonder how both the government and the industries will react to Dotcom’s speech about Barrack Obama.

Number 10 on that list would do more than anything else in history to wipe on corruption in the US government. Effectively cutting of the head of the corporate beast, if politicians don’t get paid to “champion” a corporate cause they might, just might, try to do some good for the public that voted for them and possibly the rest of humanity. Here’s hoping

  • RIAAtarded

It does speak volumes he is being retweeted so much although his rants are irrelevant as a non-citizen can’t become president so what he’d do is neither here nor there. He does however make some decent points on where their priorities lie and with an economy in the toilet maybe firing off cruise missiles like 4th of july fireworks at 1.45 million a pop isn’t the best use of resources. The problem here is everyone is figuring out late I might add that the internet is a force with power and now they are scrambling to control it. Just so happens that MPAA and the governments agendas line up on this. So if they can put controls in place and blame it on terrorism, copyright theft etc it makes no difference it is all a means to an end at this point. This is all a play for power. We just need to stop them and keep the power on our side rather then giving it up like sheep.

    Kim Dotcom nails USA again.

I don’t agree with him on the whole war, thing…Yes the US is very aggressive but someone needs to be like that, do you honestly think shits gonna go right when your the most powerful country in the world but you military just barely meets needs? Hell no countries against the US would cause chaos…He thinks he knows whats he’s talking about, all he’s good for is the internet anything else i wouldn’t trust him. I agree with some of his things but its not as easy as just saying something…You have to make it happen and im 90% sure he would barely be able to do 5.  Just because your the president doesn’t mean your a dictator.

Right. And when all the wondeful things that the next Republican president pushes for fail to happen, it’ll all be because of the Democrats obstructing him.

It won’t be because his promises were lies. Nope.

  • Truec

A few comments I thought up regarding Mr. Dotcom’s list:
    7. Stop sending trash to Mars and instead cure diseases on earth.
Kim, you had me agreeing with you entirely until this bit.  The space program has been one of the largest sources of technical innovation in the last century.  We might very well not have an internet to complain about things on if not for the space program and the cold war.  And now you want us to not fight wars and not go to space?
    8. Focus on alternative fuel and energy strategies.
We have alternative energy, it’s called nuclear power, and it works great if you don’t fuck it up.
    10. Make lobbying and political donations illegal and fund political campaigns with taxes.
The fuck you say, I don’t want my taxes going to campaign commercials.  I do like the idea of making lobbying illegal, can we do that in every other country too?
    11. Tax citizens with the highest income the most and with the smallest income the least.
Or maybe, and stay with me on this one, tax everybody the same amount, because being rich doesn’t somehow magically make you more responsible for our governments irresponsible spending?
    12. Increase the number of class rooms / teachers and pay teachers with the best results most.
This has nothing to do with the federal government or Obama.  Education is handled at the state level.  And increasing the umber of teachers and classrooms, shockingly enough, has little to do with bringing up student achievement.
I do agree with him about paying teachers on merit, but it’s not the government that prevents this, it’s the union.

    • ItsTheSasquatch

“because being rich doesn’t somehow magically make you more responsible
      for our governments irresponsible spending?”

The rich -are- the government, so yeah, it kind of does.

Also, marginal utility of wealth. Someone who makes 30k/year gets hurt a hell of a lot more by a 10% income tax than someone who makes 3 million–the latter still won’t have any trouble paying the bills at 50%, and won’t even notice the loss of 10%.

      • Truec

Unless, of course, that person making 3 million a year is the owner of a business, with business overhead.

Oh wait, I forgot, making money means you’re a millionaire with four houses and yacht who owns a major corporation and kicks puppies.

        • Anyone

if he’s making 3 million a year he has 3 million at the end of the year (before paying taxes)

not sure what that “business overhead” is, sounds like an excuse to pay less taxes because you are a “job creator”

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Richard-Perham/1543836773 Richard Perham

        • Lolk

          @f05af58b8c10e93b3595bb996aad4e5d:disqus

Overhead is any operating cost of running a business. These include utility costs like gas and electricity, rent on buildings, wages, taxes or regulations of products or services levied on the businesses, and anything else unrelated directly to the actual product or service being offered. It’s important to note overhead in business calculations because the revenue you make from products or services can be severely mitigated by operational costs.

        • Lolk

Correction; the profit can be mitigated, not the revenue. Silly mistake on my part.

        • Anyone

          @d565b479464d781322517897cbd2df86:disqus
so, if you have $3 million profit (before taxes) how does that “business overhead” come into play? isn’t that already deducted from the profit?

        • Truec

Anyone, you have to pay taxes on all the money you make, not just what you have left after paying bills. it’s as true for companies* as it is for individuals.  If I only had to pay taxes on what I had left after paying rent, I wouldn’t be paying anything.

Oh, wait, I don’t pay anything, because I don’t make any money, because the small business that employed me went of of business.

*Not counting megacorporations with tax loopholes, fuck them.

Maybe try getting into some free Curling matches. I don’t think negroes are into Curling too much other than Jheri Curl. Hockey’s pretty damn white. Not a bad list of worthwhile goals.

Question is why worthwhile goals have such a hard time making it halfway through the American Political Process.

Wasn’t always this way….and…..It’s getting worse.

That’s too bad, because when we consider all the Good that the American Government could do in the world as a properly functioning Democracy, we are forced first to acknowledge the Devastation that ends up being the applied policy in the name of the American People.

I find my answer to this question in the Difference between the American People as Individuals (hard working people who make promises and keep promises; good neighbors who promote each others safety and well being), and those American Institutions that appear to have evolved a life of their own; that appear to be contesting for Control of the American Political Process; and, that appear to have accumulated so much autonomy and financial wherewithall, that they Cannot be held accountable for the damages they inflict domesticly or abroad.

Perhaps, in this context, Barak Obama (“The Most Powerful Man in the World”) is really the Weakest Man in the World.  I honor Barak Obama, the Individual.  I don’t doubt for a second, that he is every bit as intelligent and well intentioned as he is reported to be; but, when he decided to seek the Democratic Party’s Nomination for President, he agreed to be answerable to that Institutional Constituency that has effectively elected both the Democratic and the Republican Parties repeatedly in tandem over the last two centuries.

I think that the most Important thing for that young Man or Woman who will rise in the near Future as a Candidate for the Presidency of the United States in the Hope of achieving “Real Change” that Human Beings can believe in, is to learn from Barak Obama’s example and REJECT BOTH THE DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PARTIES.

    Pirate Parties anyone?

Seriously Kim, don’t trash talk Mars, NASA is doing a minimum of what needs to be done about Mars. We should be sending Humans to Mars as soon as possible, it can be done within 4 years. It’s about science and technology, it’s about learning where life comes from, it’s about understanding how life works, how the universe is made. Going to Mars solves plenty of problems right here on earth. Technologies for healthier food, energy conservation can best be researched for when it’s optimized for sending humans to mars with the 6 month travel there, 18 months on Mars and 6 months to come back. We can send 6 crews of 4 Astronauts at the same time, total cost of Missions to Mars can be $20 Billion, even Google and Apple can pay for it and money can be made on showing advertising worldwide on the live HD video coverage.

  • Alyssa Blindy

Oh my. I really don’t think I would want Kim Dotcom as president. Yes, he has a few good ideas, but some of his ideas are just, to radical and insane for me. Stop all US wars? Come on. I won’t say more about that. I think Kim Dotcom is well suited as an internet person who runs sites like megaupload and stands up against some of the corruption which does exist. I will not deny that there is quite a bit of corruption.

    WTF?
    - First, that rover’s not expensive, compared to many other stuff.
    - Second, the money is used here on earth, doing research (not directly in biology though), the rover could be called a “mere byproduct”.
    12. Increase the number of class rooms / teachers and pay teachers with the best results most.
    Wrong!
    - First: not increase the number of classrooms, decrease the number of pupils per class (this is the more correct requirement).
    - Second: What is the “best results”? Where pupils are drilled to excell at one certain test? That’s about as bullshit as it can get. I don’t even think teachers should get paid much more per se, but other services that help them cope eg. with difficult pupils etc. (Free courses/trainings, some way to allow for personal development, …)
    15. Fix all other problems.
very specific there, are we? ;)

Tax the rich the most and poor people the least? What a douche! Its easy for him to say now that he has money. We already do this anyways dipstick. If I make $100,000 and am taxed 10% I pay $10k. If I make $30,000 and taxed the same Im pay tax of $3,000. Therefore, the rich do pay more. Stop pandering to the public and judges dotcom. Otherwise I agree with most everything else. 1,2,3,5,6,7.  If those are any indications of what would come I would not want him in power. 1-3 are almost impossible.  Look at North Korea, imagine what would happen if no one was there.  5 is possible, but what use is a defense force?  A defense force against what?  It useless if you don’t have a offensive force to match.  That pretty much removes point 6.  Point 7; where exactly does he think an expanding population will go?  Should we put two child laws in effect all over the world?  Points 1-7 will setup the world for WWIII.  The last time the US practiced isolationism, despite being a major power, led to prolonging WWII. Clearly, someone should brush up on history and stick with what they know, which is providing entertainment and services to people who really need them.  Canadian btw.

Obama: For a man who campaigned on Hope and Change he’s been hopeless and changed nothing. The Death by Drone Overlord has left Gitmo open. He’s an RIAA Shill and its clear he’s directed the FBI to shut down file sharing websites instead of reforming copyright law. Obama stands for nothing. Kick him out of office. Romney can run on the election platform: “AT LEAST I’M NOT OBAMA”.

And Joe Biden can get a job with his RIAA funders.

The US is increasingly censoring the world internet. I wonder what would happen if mails there were more disclosures from the US about what they are saying about other countries since the wikileaks debacle. Have they learned it’s not nice to say nice things to your friends while screwing them behind their backs? Or has the old shit train been shovelling the same old shit?t

What would it take to make the world see that the US no longer has the moral right to lead in world events, and that countries it owes money to should start seriously reconsider calling in those bonds and securities? Afterall, the US is Trillions of US$ in debt. It is on a scale worse that all the greek, spanish and whole of euro combined wouldn’t be able to outmatch.

vote dotcom is on my bumper!

  • JonesMatthew

Outraged? Millions of user are outraged they can’t get free porn? Who cares what dotcom thinks. He ran a business that couldn’t support the production budget of the products he offered. He’s no more suited to run the US than Mitt Romney.

  • ericore

    Go Kimdot!!
Too bad I’m not an American, I’d vote for that.
The only problem is, his list is so far from the status quo that he would risk impeachment.  But he has a head over his shoulders, and that’s a well thought out list.

  • Stnley Kubrick

“3. Stop interfering with other nations unless help was asked for.”
US smuggles mercs into countries it wants to invade. They create atrocities and then blame government for it. Then also shoot some fake videos and post them as real, pretending that people of that country themseves … ask to be bombed…

That was a scenario in Lybia, and now they’re trying same in Syria (although – this one failed – Assad is a good man – holding firm).

  • Kim.Com

Thank you Kim for saying the perfect dream world situation that is not possible. Number 7 is a bunch of bull crap too.

kim dot com for president! i am over 30 and never voted because I am an anarchist, but I would give my first vote to kim dot com.

  • BASiQ

Impressive stances. He would have my vote [as long as Ron Paul was not running against him] =D Kim Dotcom is exactly who people need to start looking towards for an example. If you are reading this, you are freaking Superman of the download world! Keep fighting man! You rock!

  • Stickyfinger

Don’t usually vote either but last time I voted for the pricks that are in power now in the UK.
Before the new order the old order has to be destroyed and they are doing an admirable job. Couldn’t have hoped for better, they are complete incompetents. lol

If he doesn’t like Obama, imagine how he would feel about Romney.

    • Zebra52

I’d rather have Romney than those two idiots that currently occupy the white house.

  • Abbernomad

Who give a fuck what he’d do as president? I’ve got my own list of things, and they’re not as retarded as cutting NASA from the budget!

  • ldj

Unfortunately it’s gonna cost the world a lot if US support for israel is gone.

  • Guest

Very nice to-do list made to garner the good-will of netizens. But Kim should stick only to internet issues/copyright and leave the rest of politics aside because that’s a grey area and it just shows his ignorance about those issues. Stuff isn’t black and white, and simple as he suggests.

  • Cocksuckers

Sorry to say that I don’t agree with Dotcom and can’t support him. anyway he’s not our leader..we don’t need one..

    We’re pirates,aye?

I agree in principle with his ideas, except his comment about sending junk to Mars demonstrates he is an idiot.

Most of his plans are insane. NASA has made breakthroughs in technology “sending shit to Mars”. It inspired millions of people in the 1960s when they actually had a budget. To become scientists, astronauts etc.

The US needs to have some monitoring over its citizens. Albeit NOT to the level they’re now. But we certainly don’t want for them to put their heads in the sand.

These are just examples. It is easy to say do all this. But it would be way more complex than writing it on a blog. I’m concerned that you’re using the same blanketing  / cut of their leg for an ingrown toenail technique of the US government. Same technique you’re trying to fight for internet freedoms

Lmao… Americans talking shit about their president, what’s new haha… No matter who you put into office, you will bitch and complain… I can assure you of at least one thing, if you Americans vote republican, you will see a lot more of your rights stripped than you can imagine.  Why is it that it takes people from outside the US to actually see what is really going on inside it?  Funny thing though, every country outside of the US follows and knows more about American elections and their candidates than Americans do, just too bad we can’t vote.  At least we understand the consequences of YOUR actions…..

Don’t blame me. I don’t vote. Never have, never will.

  • soren121

Returning the US to an isolationist policy? That I’ve got no problem with. I’d vote for him.

I don’t agree with ending space exploration.
This exploratory science is the most important sort of science as far as I’m concerned.
It is the science that is most likely to result in us discovering completely new things about our universe which will change things to such an extent that disease curing becomes child’s play.
It is the pseudo-scientists — such as those torturing animals in labs and developing new military weapons & unnecessary toxic pharmaceuticals — who need to be shut down.
If any changes need to be made to space exploration programs, it should be increases in funding and transparency and separation from the government/military.
