Klaxxon Starts Where aXXo Left Off
Written by Ernesto on December 20, 2007A few weeks ago we reported that the popular DVD ripper aXXo decided to take a break and stopped releasing new material for the time being. Around the same time a new face entered the non-scene scene and whenever people searched for aXXo torrents, KLAXXON rips started to appear.
The last official aXXo torrent was uploaded over a month ago, after that is has been awfully quiet. When aXXo was still active, an estimated one million people downloaded his DVDrips every month. This did not go unnoticed to malware peddlers and anti-piracy organizations who used the aXXo tag to spread their evil. However, it now seems that a new ripper called KLAXXON, is also benefiting from aXXo’s popularity.
It’s safe to say that KLAXXON’s name is inspired by aXXo, thereby using the popularity of aXXo to promote his/her DVDrips in the search results of BitTorrent sites. It’s an effective way to get attention because even after a month of absence, aXXo is still among the most searched keywords on most BitTorrent sites.
It turns out that KLAXXON’s timing was spot on. Intentionally or not, the rips (mostly older titles) started to appear on torrent sites a few days before aXXo posted his last torrent. The quality of the rips is not bad according to most of the comments. The only thing thats seems odd are the file sizes, they vary quite a bit, from 500MB to well over 1GB.
I doubt whether it’s wise, but KLAXXON even has a weblog with more details about the releases and a requests page where we read:

It looks like KLAXXON enjoys pleasing their “loyal fans” on their way to BitTorrent stardom. A hobby that turns out to be quite risky to some, I’m sure that the anti-pirates already placed their spotlights on this newcomer.

If you need a stand alone divx player, try anything by philips.
This one at walmart is under $40, and had a HD UP Converter. Awesome Unit.
Find a code online and you can turn off region limits.

I have my laptop hooked up to my htdv via hdmi, and I must say HD is definitely not worthless in fact I’d rather download everything in hd, for people like me why even bother with anything less then hd, I download it and then play it in hd, without having to burn or put in a different disc or anything. So much easier.

couple comments, one question. Question first…
Someone mentioned using septic style hd releases on a standalone player…. is this right? Is there a standalone player that can play 720p x.264 w AAC/DTS in mkv format from a DVDR? I’ve already made quite a few of these discs for my collection, but have to play them from my computer (which I have hooked up to my receiver/hdtv with component video and spdif audio). If so, do you know any models of standalone players that can do this?
Comment to the guy who suggests using RW media then reusing the discs, that seems pretty pointless… if you’re not going to keep the movie, why bother burning it? Just run component (or hdmi) from your video card to tv and play it on the computer… [I guess for axxo quality stuff svideo would probably suffice I guess if your video card doesnt have better outputs....]
And another comment to someone saying how it’s good klaxxon understands different sizes for different movies. You gotta realize there is a very good reason for 700mb divx files… cuz they fit on a CD, so instead of having the same quality for every movie, we get the absolute best possible quality we can fit on a cd… no point in 500mb file for this purpose, it’d still take a whole cd, so why not make it 700mb and better quality. Also, even axxo sometimes made 800mb versions of really long movies, but 700mb is more common as not all CDRs can write 800mb discs, and the blanks arent nearly as cheap…

aXXo sucked, and I really hope he’s dead or at least busted.
I got some of his rips, but I started hating him when he threw the “axxotorrents” hissy-fit. It just showed what a lame-ass mamma’s boy he really is. Probably a 30-year old who works in a video-store and lives in his grandmothers bassement with his cat and a computer.
I luckily rolled into scene-releases. I’m not a scene member or anything else, but the stuff they release is great! Movies with crisp video and 5.1 sound on 1 or 2 CD’s. Especially the 2 CD version blow aXXo out of the sky. Why mess with quality? And that’s what aXXo did by re-encoding scene releases. And if I want to play them on a stand-alone player, I download the DVD.
No aXXo, you’ll not be missed. Well, maybe by some n00bs…
I think that is should be a general rule that if you say the word “n00b” and you are actually serious that you should be condemned to at the very least…..death.
in response to 23, a good divx player is the PS3. Just be sure you have updated your firmware to 2.10 and it’s good to go. And you that are bashing solid uploaders, you don’t know shit from apple-butter. All you torrent haters get to bed.
I’ve all my TVs connected wirelessly to my router. For $10 per month I’ve access to all worlds channels and every movie/serie/music ever made. The year? 2012.
