The greens and a few independents hold the balance of power in the ruling Labor party and they have been holding Labor over a barrel forcing their own agendas through.

No reason why the Lib Dems couldn’t do the same in the UK.

Being a minority in a coalition government means to have the balance of power! If the Conservative majority wants something passed, they have to oblige their minority partner to vote like them in order to get what they want. So I say, go Lib-dem! Don’t give anything to the Conservatives unless you get what you want in return!
