If one leading company seems to always have the "cures" for the latest problems distributed throughout society, would it not be safe to assume that the major company could possibly be creating those problems through hiring third-party coders to create the next generation of viruses and antivirus definitions, complete with a prefabricated release date for both virus and cure? I use Linux and never pay for antivirus. I choose to donate to the developers directly for things and cut out the corporate entity altogether. Open source allows the people to examine what is under the hood and see everything for themselves. It prevents viruses and trojans from being slipped in because it is not closed source. Remember how the free AOL discs mass distributed in major retail chains had 7 viruses on them?
