Megaupload Wants to Freeze “Troll” Case
A few weeks after Megaupload was shutdown ValCom and Microhits sues the cyberlocker for copyright infringement.
In what can be characterized as a trolling venture, the companies ask for millions of dollars in damages.
Megaupload, however, has its hands full on preparing their defense in the criminal case and will ask the court to delay the civil suit for the time being.
“Defendants intend to move for a stay of this action while criminal charges are pending,” Megaupload lawyer Ira Rothken writes to the court.
This would make sense, since the outcome of the criminal case will also determine whether Megaupload is protected by the DMCA safe harbor or not.
