MegaUpload User Data Safe for 2 More Weeks

mega Yesterday we broke the news that MegaUpload’s user data was at risk.

Late Friday MegaUpload received a letter from the US Attorney stating that data of their customers could be deleted coming Thursday.

In an update a few hours ago, MegaUpload lawyer Ira Rothken told TorrentFreak that after talks with the various parties involved the data has been saved for at least two more weeks.

This gives MegaUpload and the authorities some extra time to find a solution.

The authorities have made some selective backups as evidence, but MegaUpload want to secure all data of their users.

Thats because the ‘authorities’ only want to prove they had copyrighted material and most likely they backed up ALL of it, and ignored all the legitimate content that was there.

Users……… unique files are actually stolen

I think this is the first time that I have ever heard of…. literal copyright theft.
Not that made up copyright theft…where nothing is stolen.

They want no records of the legitimate content, they do not want someone able to show them that yes there was X% of infringing material but there was 3X% noninfringing and that it was just a hosting service.

I thought this was a democracy. In other words should not megaupload first be found guilty in a court of law before anything is deleted?

    Too many bloody hands and puppets in our government because of how special interests grew government out of control with power.
    
    We’re just now starting to see the tip of the iceberg that the lot of us have been warning our peers about when they were voting. Before this year is done the US government is gonna try it’s damnedest to push this because too many people still support Hollywood and it gives them ample funding to line the campaign coffers of politicians with.
    
    Did you know yet another bloody tax increase on the average person passed in the U.S under the guise of ‘taxing the rich more’? Laughable, shameful sort of democracy here meant to turn this entire thing into a tyranny.

how will u get the data if the bills are not paid because the funds are frozen? Dohhhhhhh what a paradox.

It doesn’t make sense. How will people get their files? Perhaps remote upload it from MU to Rapidshare or any of the other alive hosts.
