Again, facts… Australian police don’t function the same as the USA lads. Thank god or any other deity of choice. so the legal advice given previously only works in USA, wouldn’t work in Britain either. Saying statements like the above wlll set every alarm bell the cops have off, only badly advised crims usually say that shit

That said, the irony is that Australian control over the internet has dropped over the last few years, they used to have themost regulated domain name registration system in the world, now its pretty much the same as everyone else.

IP australia aren’t police. They work WITH police, state and federal. Facts do help. You will find most countries watching the word ‘torrent’ carefully, as it is synonymous with illegal download for, oh, about 15 years now. Maybe they should try something new, call it ‘allaboutmovies’ and have reviews and stuff, don’t make it so obvious that my blind granmother who has never used a computer could figure it out, let alone tech-savvy cops who spend all day dealing with it.. *sigh* – so much for the ‘illegal’ fringe being creative, innovative and intelligent.. ‘let do it the same way we have for 10 years and hope no one notices’

The cops are very wily and can turn your responses into an offence. e.g. Inconsistent replies = lying = attempting to pervert the course of justice. Then they hold you. There’s hundreds of examples they use. e.g.

“Do you mind if I search your car?”
“Yes”
“OK – he agreed to me searching his car..”
(correct response – “I object to the search”)

If the fuzz bust you and you don’t want to say anything, even just refusing to answer can be twisted against you. There are a few phrases that have been designed to prevent that. It’s below:

“I have nothing to say to you”
“Am I under arrest?”
“Am I free to go?”
Have you witnessed me in the act of any illegality?”

Just cycle only these phrases over and over. Don’t deviate. They have to release you or charge you. The first response above is 99% of the answers you should give.
