Vistatorrent.com received the well known “cease and desist” letter from Microsoft. Apparently they are still planning to take down the internet.

Although the demand for Microsoft’s second Vista Beta is extremely high, Microsoft refused to release a torrent. They stated:

There are legal and privacy issues which unfortunately make that not an option for Microsoft to officially sponsor a BitTorrent.

In a response to this, vistatorrent.com and BitTorrent.com created a torrent for the popular download, but although it saves Microsoft some bandwidth, they don’t like it.

Vistatorrent.com just removed the torrent, but there’s still a copy on BitTorrent.com (update: BitTorrent.com removed the torrent).

Probably not for long so here’s a picture..

You got to love the hudge corporations. No decision making – everyone afraid of getting in trouble. Blame it on the other guy. Rat race at its best.

“There are legal and privacy issues which unfortunately make that not an option for Microsoft to officially sponsor a BitTorrent.”

Yes but does that mean they have to go seek out the torrents and disable them??? I just don’t understand Microsoft. It saves them bandwidth and increases the number of people who are testing this product.

They still have to go through microsoft to get a key they just don’t download it from them. Why are they killing this win-win situation?

Somehow i doubt that MS is concerned about saving bandwidth. If I had every version of my software out on torrent sites being downloaded for free every day i might hold a grudge too.

Bill Gates is a thieving wanker and he deserves a slap!!!!!!

I don’t think you can completely blame MS for this (no, I’m not a MS lova). Since MS is so frickin huge they need to make sure they jump through every legal hoop out there and the fact that you could download Vista through a torrent (with a key posted somehere) and without clicking “I Agree” on their legal pages is more likely a product of the US legal system. Just go to the vista beta site and get a key, then go download it from a torrent hosted elsewhere;) BTW TorrentFreak, nice site and thanks for using the Digg feedflare in your RSS feed and let me know if you have any problems or suggestions for the service.

MS has allways been this way. They will never change (not even when Bill Gates is out of the picutre). They hate piracy, and there is nothing we can do about it.

HELP! I downloaded utorrent yesterday to my new laptop and now my computer has gone crazy. None of my gadgets will display on my sidebar, certain internet sites (like AOL mail and hotmail) come up blank, and my quickplay doesn’t work. I don’t know if this is a compatibility issue w/ Vista or what, but none of my tech friends can figure this out… I’m lost. Anyone who can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

VISTA IS NOT WORTH PAYING FOR IT IS A DOWNGRADE!

  • monkey

everyones right vista is shit all they’ve done on the desktop to change icons is add overide codes :s as a result you need a faster computer to do everything properly. Oh yeah, and they never bothered testing it properly, so its full of fucking faults. The ONLY thing Vista does properly is illegally block (where possible ;)) other companies using there software on it. LMAO some government should force MS to take the blocks out of it, that way we can all rip MS to pieces, add our own software and remove the shit they give us. LMAO. Gill bates is a cunt…

I hear a news that the Microsoft will plan to take over the computer market. They are planning to make a partnership with Intel. I have a confirmation on taking the internet, there’s a “Microhoo” now. (Microsoft+Yahoo?). I hope that they are not selfish to take down the internet, because it is for public. I hope that they will doomed if they’re take over the internet. >:(
