It's getting ridiculous; That is, the people who like myself download illegally and expect to be able to. Thinking it's a 'right' and what-not.

It is not. It's available - and something of a luxury.

Enjoy it while it lasts - and don't forget for a second that if the people who make the software aren't getting the return on the investment then - I suppose - in some way you'll have your wish, as there will be no more copyright 'DEVILS' to fight against, as there will be no sense in making further products.

From all Microsoft products, the Office suite is probably the one which localization / language adaptation is more important to the end user. I bet the versions they were sharing were in lithuanian, so the local MS team did not want to lose the bucks they'd get indirectly.

In fact, I think Microsoft as a whole gives a crap about piracy, since it's the spreading of their software what makes them have the power. Bill knew that decades ago, when he offered his first OSes almost for free in many occasions.

@31, 33

I figure in a world where many of the games and programs that run on your computer are $50 (christ I'm talking to fellow pirates here), twice that isn't so bad for the OS. Certainly I'd rather it be cheaper, say roughly the cost of normal software, but the public perception is that the OS is not normal software, even though you could make a solid case for the contrary. Thus, it costs more. The fact is that it now only costs more by a factor of 2. Try to think about it from a perspective where we actually pay for things. In that world, $110 is a nice step down from $400. 2x is much better than 8x.

When I said it was reasonable and sane, I was trying to speak from a somewhat tempered, realistic perspective, instead of the perspective of a die-hard pirate. I'm actually fairly critical of Microsoft. They suck, in fact. You should have read the second, highly critical half of my post before attacking me. So to answer 31, it's reasonable in my little world where companies are allowed to make money, software costs a lot anyway, and Windows is the de facto standard OS for home and office computers.
