Like someone has already said – you can do whatever you like to your xbox as long as you don’t take it onto Microsoft’s Xbox Live.

The car analogy is misleading – a better one would be racing – yes you can strap a solid fuel rocket motor to the top of your car, but you wouldn’t be allowed to race in Formula One for example.

FWIW I’m largely in favour of Microsoft keeping a tight grip on XBL. I have a massive respect for “hackers” they made this wonderful world possible, but breaking games that people play online for pleasure just so they can auto-head-shot me through a wall is a total fucking waste of energy and right fucks me off when I’m trying to have a bit of fun.

No-one ever needs to pay £40 for a game.

If you really want a particular one, plan ahead and get a release day deal – I got Black Ops for £25 brand new legit.

Else go pre-owned (remember to check for DRM or “VIP Codes”) or wait a few months and shop around online.

The only time anyone pays £40-£50 for a game is when they choose to do it – so man up, take some responsibility for your actions and enjoy your sodding game.

Precisely. I only flash new hacked firmware from time to time to be able to play new games (workaround disc protections installed along with new firmware protections).

That’s how PS3 hacks are gonna be. As for PSN and xbox live? Not interested thank you. If I were I’d buy another xbox and keep it unmodded ;))

Just a few thoughts here.
To play online PC games, its one IP address connecting to another. So why cant an Xbox just connect IP addresses without Xbox live in the middle?
Second thought,…
What is so different about modding a Ford or Chevy compared to a game console?
Could you imagine all the oil or car companies across the world threatening everyone with jail time for putting computer enhancing software in their vehicles so you couldn’t maximize the fuel management.
Or if lets say your vehicle came new with Goodyear tires on it & if you changed to a different brand or size then you void your warranty and now could not have your car serviced unless you put it back to new standards.
Microsoft has a monopoly and it’s greedy teeth in the mostly uneducated & uninformed that just go with the flow of things. On top of Bill Gates paying off his pocket full senators, congressman & other scumbags who have the reigns on the decisions in our government.

Its all about money with M$ and i don’t see the point bringing a protection on the discs as hackers will always find a way.Paying £40-£50 for a game is too much to ask for, plus you have to pay for xbox live as well as the extra content…The list goes on.Are Microsoft not getting enough already? Clearly not
