More BitTorrent Trackers Shut Down, Owner’s Cover Blown
Written by enigmax on August 28, 2007Hosting a BitTorrent tracker at Leaseweb in the Netherlands has been considered by some to be a great option, offering value for money and good service. However, if you asked the administrators of Araditracker, BitHQ and PeerPortal what they think of this host, don’t expect a positive answer - Leaseweb has just given their personal details to the anti-piracy police, BREIN.

Following a decision in the Amsterdam court which stated the Dutch torrent site Everlasting.nu facilitated copyright infringement, the Dutch anti-piracy outfit BREIN has been using this momentum to make life difficult for other torrent sites. After getting Everlasting shut down and obtaining the administrator’s personal details, they moved to take down Demonoid . It didn’t do much good - the site re-located to Canada and remains online today.
Now, even though an appeal in respect of Everlasting.nu is still pending, an emboldened BREIN has moved to get 6 further Leaseweb-hosted torrent trackers shut down, including the popular Araditracker, BitHQ and Peerportal, who between them tracked 9,000 torrents.
In a move which is bound to concern many other administrators who have their sites at Leaseweb, the host has again given up the personal details of the tracker admins. All three named sites have now left Leaseweb (and the Netherlands entirely) and have secured hosting elsewhere in Europe and US but this exodus doesn’t seem to concern BREIN who seem intent on pursuing the owners outside the Netherlands.
Tim Kuik of BREIN said “we have the names and addresses of these administrators, so we can get to these people through our contacts abroad.”
Armed with these names, BREIN says it intends to go after the administrators to force them to compensate content owners for lost revenue and prevent the sites from starting back up again.
With two out of the three sites already fully operational, it looks as if BREIN’s main aim of closing these sites has failed - in the biggest possible way.

Long Live Araditracker, BitHQ and Peerportal :)
And a big FUCK goes out to BREIN ;)
Oh my God! They have their names! They are going to shut them down!
Just like the anti piracy organizations easily shut down that other torrent site ran by Gottfrid Svartholm, Fredrik Neij and Peter Sunde because they had their names and addresses too! some photos and videos even!
thepiratebay.org I think it was called.
… which was also hosted by LeaseWeb at one point, by the way!
HAHAHA all the sites mentioned are back online again :-)
yeah peer was down for like a few days i think it was down and all working now its a good site
That sucks that leaseweb did that, with all the seedbox’s and sites hosted on there, if those people start leaving, thats tens of thousands of dollars a month they will lose in business

“Lets grab a shovel and dig our graves!”
If these people spent as much money making films and not hiring these goons there would be no need for downloading as the movies would be worth the money to see in the cinema’s
Becuz, Leaseweb had no choice. Give the info’s or lose thousands of dollars each day.
Long live the BREIN republic!
Let me check my decoder ring….. Hmmm b=f, r=u, e=c, i=k, and n=U. Translation Brein = FuckU.
hey!!!! if they can do it why cant we?
like start publishing phone numbers to there houses, addresses and all dirt on them.
yah just start by making a torrent with all there business numbers have people crank phone call em all day long
Just to clarify, Araditracker has not, and will not give anyone any information to any party outside our Admins in regards to members. Was a good time to change hosts anyways!!! lol
peerportal is down again!
what happenend?
these institutions are gay they think they can get rid of a couple of trackers and make a dent in the overall world of torrents when all that happens is they relocate like demonoid did or come back strong like suprnova & piratebay. long live torrents
LOng live araditracker and Brein organisation can go suck rhino horn ;-)
Can anyone recommend alternatives to leaseweb?
I’m currently just using their services to host torrents but would like the opportunity to run a tracker.
Cheers.
up yours brein u r fighting a battle that you cannot possibly win biteme hehe
Brein licks balls!
GET THE MESSAGE MPAA/BREIN/OTHER FACELESS BASTARDS …
This ain’t going away! You’re speeding us on the road to better technology…
1. Trackerless torrents (Yeah, you’ll have to go after us ONE BY ONE, millions of us).
2. Anonimous chunk hosting. To download a file I need to host an equivalent cache of unrelated needed chunks… and I don’t know what those chunks are as they are xored out on a large rotating key and can only be read by those who already know what the source tracker file is (Where the seed values for the keytable resides)
3. TOR… Try cracking that you asshats. The places where torrents are listed and initial peers are found can move off the web and into onion space and you can kiss our collective asses.
And your crap about us ‘hurting the industry’ ? Well… this year is all set to be a record profit year for hollywood. Oops… Thats gonna blow up in your face. Your claims are baseless. I myself was going to the movies MORE often as a result of my downloads!
Of course, now I loathe to pay a penny to those that would criminalise me. Hollywood just lost a fan.
The sad fact is that at the end of the day this is one fight you are NEVER going to win. You will always be reactive and we will always be proactive in the use of technology.
We are the children, the voters, the future and your key demographic … and you greedy faceless greysuits goldsuckerts will NEVER subjugate us.
Before that happens we’ll be having mass protest parties outside of government buildings, courtrooms… and YES, sharing DVD’s on your VP’s front lawn and begging you to jail us (the undersigned millions) in magazine exclusives.
So heed these words you arrogant pricks. Your days are numbered, we have your names… and you’ll be among the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Author is a filesharer and a power seeder… Now, MPAA, go subpoena this host for my IP and come after me. I’d just LOVE to get into a courtroom with you bastards because I can raise the money and I know enough about working the relationships between media, politics and the law to destroy you in europe. And, when you see my disabilities and what I am willing to do to for my cause then you and magazine editors across europe are gonna wet your pants.
Oh, BTW… I hope you’re deciding which expendible suits you’re going to scapegoat should TorrentSpy go after you for commissioning an illegal act of hacking and commercial espionage against them.
If you did that to me I gaurauntee that I’d have you hauled over hot coals and hung out to dry. In fact, ANY slip and I’d screw you royally… indeed, I’m just waiting for the future class action against you guys cus then we’re all gonna party our asses off.
As regards money power theres another worrying point for you… the cost of defending a case in court is LESS than settlement… true. But less than both is paying someone to take a shot at your VP with a rifle or some dopehead to abduct your sister. I hope it never happens BTW… but in america feelings are running very high and gun control is pathetic. The ‘Let them hate us as long as they fear us’ ethos breaks down in a society with poor gun control and a John Wayne culture.
So, please, continue in destroying the lives of low-income families for something their underage kids did… please, one day some father will lose everything he holds dear and all the money in the world won’t protect you from the walmart rounds he expends in your worthless carcasses.
Now shut up, sit down, and work on a business model that DOESNT include terrorising children and destroying modern distribution systems you bunch of mindless torch-carrying luddites.
Correction:
> the cost of defending a case in court
> is LESS than settlement… true.
Should read the other way around ‘Cost of settlement is LESS than…’ - Doh!
Doesn’t matter you get the point.
