I always or almost always sneak drinks and food into movie theaters and my mom is a cheapy and food in theaters is so expensive probably more then Disney because disnye has competition in their theme park, and also I’m clasified by Social Security as being Autistic and a Type 1 diabetic so we carry candy sometimes for low blood sugar.

If they do that to me I might threaten criminal prosecution against their staff for discriminating somebody with a health problem, I may even curse at them if they tell me to hand over my candy or drinks, I would tell them that they are fags.

In fact they get people hungry and thirsty by using subliminal advertising, I outta sue them and curse them to death.

I hope everybody stops buying movie theater food and drinks, until they charge their d*mn policy.

it would be illegal if they forcibly searched you, but that’s completely irrelevant to this discussion. if you agree to be searched, it’s not illegal and if you refuse to be searched, they can legally refund your money and kick you out. you should stop asserting things out of ignorance.

I worked for cineworld when i was a student, the film distributers basically took all the money.

Staff get a card after 3 months that allows them to get 2 free tickets aday, they need be present with the friend, its easy to abuse thou we just got comps put through for the rest off the ppl we where with, but we would get sacked if caught out, i still get in for free cause one of the guys i used to work with went on to be a manager at the cinema we worked.

Right next to my local cineworld is Tesco so that’s were all their food money goes.

Btw i don’t like cineworld as a company, it was a cool place to work we ripped the piss out of that place, also there unlimited card sucks balls, well the unlimited customers, there goons – such cunts. they see like 20 movies a month for like £10 (or what ever it is now) and they think they can be cunts too the staff who only want to get beer money while there studying at uni. (maybe a little ranting here but hey who dont like to moan about old jobs they had as students)

Hmmm if they don’t let you in you can’t consume the products in their theatre, if you don’t consume them then you are not in breach of their T&Cs! Just having them on you is not in breach of their T&Cs, ergo they can’t steal them off you!

However, I think the more pressing matter is that the paying customer was searched for ‘cam’ equipment when the candy was found. To me, being searched at a theater is drawing the line.

On a lighter note, last time I was at the El’Capitan Theater in Hollywood they not only let me bring in my digital ‘still’ camera (without searching my bag) but also encouraged it. Their policy was no video cameras but still was allowed.

Yet, bottom line is, if a theater decided to search me after I paid for a ticket, you better bet your ass that I would demand a refund and contact head office. No movie or anything for that matter is worth being demoralized into a criminal.

…where you would pay the exact same inflated prices on food.

Another day at the cinema:
“Mam, we have to search you for any type of recording device.”
“Shure, go ahead”
“Ok, terrorist bombs are not part of illegal devices BUT you can record the movie with your mind, we are sorry but we have to confiscate your eyes”

Then they wonder why we dont go to cinema as much as we did before, bunch of tards, thinking that they are king of something inside theyr cinema. They will go down if they dont improve everything that is wrong, they need to do things that people like if they want us to go, not things that THEY like…

Don’t bother asking me to remove a sweater because it’s baggy either, cause I won’t. And don’t touch me either.

I don’t have an issue with the sweets though. I wouldn’t bring them, unless it was hot popcorn with nice warm melted butter on it. Expensive in the theatre? Yes, sure, but that’s what makes “going to the movies” part of what it is. For us, it’s not just watching a movie (we do that at home)…it the experience. Though I’ll admit, todays theatres aren’t much like they used to be…small, cramped, mostly ugly, with uncomfortable seats.

I cant count all the reasons why I don’t go to cinemas.. its horrible..

Seriously do the math and see how long it takes you to save money by pirating and not going to the movies to save up for a large LCD/projector VS going to the movies.. its really not that hard at ALL.

For two people to go the movies and grab snacks drinks, it costs about $50. So if you go once a week it costs $200 a month. Don’t go to the movies for 3 months and there’s your $600 you can easily buy a 40′+ LCD or projector. Cinema FTL Pirates FTW

The point being made is how certain rules are seriously sacrificing the customer’s experience in the theatre (or just outright overblown) leading to a loss of customers (like Sue). There are probably several other similar cases. Overall, the experience is deteriorating more and more.

What exactly have the MPAA done wrong here?

I’m pretty sure they didn’t set the rules about people bringing food and drink into cinemas…

As far as I can see, the MPAA is not involved in any way with this case, so any outrage/anger/whatever should be directed at the people responsible instead. Like Cineworld :).

Personally, I don’t like how they charge extortionate prices for food and drink, and it doesn’t make me inclined to go to the cinema more often, but if they want to do it then that is their choice. If I don’t like their service, I won’t use it, but I’m not going to try to force them to offer a different service.

They may make more money by stopping people from eating their own food, or they may make less. Regardless, it’s their decision to make.

They either need to make it a standard or leave people alone, this little sneaky way of trying to search people and do whatever they want is wrong. If the deal is your going to get searched, that needs to be very clear ahead of time so the consumer doesn’t find himself in a situation like this. If a giant sign that says YOU MAY/WILL BE SEARCHED FOR XXXX then so be it.

But lets be honest, there not going to do that because people would avoid that cinema.
