The MPA just spent a bunch of marbles taking this site down. Now it's back up? The current administration is sticking it to the man. The MPA will counter by hurling some stones at the webhosts, and soon any of the online payment centers the current admins try out. Cut off the money supply and the site will die. Donations will not be enough for a sustainable future, even if the future is only 3 years. This is a serious disadvantage.

The site needs to re-brand itself quickly and then I guess be on the run for the foreseeable future.

There's a lot of obstacles to jump over or even through. Should be an interesting year or two, maybe more.

@41

I regularly use around 30 websites alone on a personal level that require an account. Then I have 5 personal e-mail accounts that I use for different purposes.

Then I admin 8 domains. Each of those domains has has an e-mail account and a SQL account.

Then for my work I administer 2 domains, 5 e-mail accounts, 2 system logins, 2 linux accounts and 2 different SQL accounts.

Then there are all the miscellanous accounts... Router login, WPA encryption password, windows logons, etc.

If you think that its possible to generate and remember 100+ unique logins and passwords then I call bullshit. Unless you save them all to your browser or write them down which defeats the point, doesn't it?

I already said I have different passwords. Different from work from personal from online banking. vBulletin uses salted MD5 hash so its fine to share the same password across different forums.

I said I don't use the same password for every site but apparently you didn't read that did you?

And to use your analogy, I have the same key for every door in my house, which is different from my car key. That car key opens every car door.

Not even the most paranoid person I know has 30 keys for their house which opens every different door and window.

To ChrisFromFamilyGuy :

Would you fit the same lock on your front door and your car?

Anyone daft enough to use the same password for more than one site deserves everything that happens to them.

All passwords should be:

1) different
2) nonsense mixtures of letters and numbers with ideally some non-alphanumeric characters thrown in for good luck.

Sample of a good password: t%8f2z9!d4$

The FTD case is a complete joke. It's completely different from a newzbin as the forum doesn't pay ppl posting the links. Proves how clueless the people in charge of the legal systems are.

I wanna see how this will work out. In any case, anything that makes MAFIAA spend lots and receive none has to be good. heh

Of course it was handed over.. how do you suppose the site has the exact same domain name? It all ties in so nicely.

A tad slow on the uptake you folk are.
