The copy write industry is sticking to their “Low hanging fruit” analogy.

Google is clearly a high hanging target. It would be one of the last to be attacked, long after a huge president and historical trend has been set.

If sued at this time, Google would open a can of Whip-a** on them, and they know it.
Sharks (lawyers) go after the smaller/easy prey first, then progress on to the medium sized fish and after the water gets really bloody-the shark community gets whipped up to a frenzy, do they ever attempt to attack a large fish.

Like the cowards they are (suing old women, teenagers) The industry does not have the stomach for a really good battle.

It does in Canada. Civil suits are covered by bankruptcy in Canada, anything that’s harmful in terms of personal injury (owing money for hurting someone or medical bills), grand theft (robbing a bank, store etc.) or owing money for child/spousal support/tax evasion can’t be wiped out though with bankruptcy.

I would think it’s the same in the U.S. though… civil suits are monetary only (or else they’d be criminal in nature), so when it’s just a financial reward, it can be subject to being eliminated with bankruptcy, unless the person just filed for it, usually there’s a time period to when a person can declare it again.

Why is Robertson even fighting this? Surely if he can’t claim personal bankruptcy, how is anyone supposed to pay back $41 million, let alone $41,000?

Just file for bankruptcy and it goes away. If he can’t, then he should just move to another city. It’s a civil award, meaning, it’s up to EMI to find him and try to get any money from Robertson. He should just disappear now, work under the table for a while in another city and just lay low from getting his name out there via social media.
