I have to say 2 things:

1. As far as I know, you have to USE the software like cracks and stuff to break the law. Downloading them is not illegal. I think that same goes for torrents. (movies, music, games… law is the same for all) You cant watch fake movie, or listen to the silence (fake music) and be in the breach of the law that doesn’t apply to the non-existent movie/game/music.

2. Obtaining IP address via fake torrents spells “SPYWARE”, and that is questionable way to enforce the law. I’m sure that there is a law against spyware, and to enforce one law by breaking another, spells “case lost” in the court of law.

I think that the whole “fake torrents” story is nothing more than a delusion fueled by the MPAA’s lack of resources to fight the piracy.

they are not stupid people like most of you think. if you did not have these admins that cover your ass you would be sitting in jail ^^ or paying like, some big big big fine.

after all, all they need is evidence that a site is pirating. then they have enough to take to court and shut them down. put the sites creators on a 25 year ban on computers instead of jail time. they do that to hackers when they catch them just soz u know ^^

and when they catch them on computer they then charge them with unauthorized computer access then put in like for 25 years. wouldnt this be for assisting the piraters?

cuz if i were a musik composer, i would want to be making money from it. all they have 2 do is take down the leaders of the site, and then like, they all topple down ^.^!!!

i forgets to mention, i like reading the newspaper! well sometimes. i think something like this would be like, sooooz awesome 2 read, site taken down and the creators charged ^^

Who do we trust?

Of course this only works because we also have a sane legal system, meaning you are innocent unless proven guilty, and that you cannot be extorted by big conglomerates, like the RIAA or MPAA. They have to PROOF the damage they suffered, or they will pay for all the trouble they caused.

No offense, my American friends, I’m just pointing out what I think the problem is :)

The worst was when topless police women were in a park asking men for sex (without money) an then having them arrested. Who would say no to a topless women in the park asking for sex (for free).

Now add the fact you live in a country that poisons you (Fluoride) so a corporation doesn’t have to pay the disposal fee for hence toxin. Going to war so corporate big wigs can make a killing (literally). Or just living in a nation where a women (stripper, pornstar, Tila Tequila) with no talent, an big tits can make more money in a week than your stupid ass can ever make in a lifetime, an still expects you to make more money an pay for everything.

Y: Money invested in Anti-piracy and DRM.

Z: Money lost in reduced sales as a counter-action response to aggressive anti-piracy enforcement.

As far as the “intent” argument goes (not applicable in Sweden) I would refuse to acknowledge that I was trying to download copyrighted material. If they can’t prove I knew it was “copyrighted” (I would claim I was looking for the “Sweded” version ;-)) and the file itself was a pile of legal junk, then there’s no case whatsoever…
