Only half?? I find it interesting that these people are equating corporations with individuals, actual beings. In other words, personification. Very subtle. It makes the reader subliminally think of them as people rather than what they really are, greedy, bloated, self serving corporate parasites. Sure, they create jobs, as cheaply as they can possibly get away with. They sure don’t have their employees best interests at heart, only making as much profit as they can. They actually have a dilemma, they don’t want us, but without us, they have no one to sell their cheap, non working, throw away crappy product to.

Twelve years ago, their success wouldn’t have been possible through the medium of the internet. This was 1999. Dial-up was still king in America.

So, OK Go are really a null example. The simple fact is, however, in this new format, few people are going to get filthy stinking rich (not like the bands care, it’s not like many of them ever got rich, since their profits were eaten by the record labels). That said, I think just as many if not more will certainly make enough money to support themselves, and an even greater number will be making their spending money through such.

Artists aren’t really hurt by this, art isn’t really hurt by this. Most of my favorite bands from back in the day never made a dime, and nowadays they’re more popular than they ever were and if they weren’t all dead would actually be getting money.
