Be very careful who you do business with VPN provider wise

I got a year subscription with this VPN provider https://torrentprivacy.com/ and the VPN has went down for days now and I have months left on my subscription

Countless attempts with emails to “customer service” and no reply

Their forum is full of this even though research online shows great reviews for them

I have ruled out ISP blocking and isn’t not my firewall /router

The company is very happy to take your money and then never have anything to do with you again

Do be careful before subscribing to service provider like this and I HIGHLY do NOT recommend https://torrentprivacy.com/

I, for example, use a VPN in Britain to listen to Capital FM in London, which is blocked to listeners outside of Britain. I also use VPNs in mainland Europe, during the Olympics, to tune into Olympics coverage that is way better than what NBC has.

Go to figure skating forums, such as Figure Skating Universe, and you will hear of people using VPNs to watch Grand Prix figure skating events, which are not televised in the USA anymore, and who don’t want to pay IceNetwork’s exorbitant pricing.

People have differing reasons to use VPNs, but the the reason a lot of people use VPNs is to bypass geoblocking. This is becuase it is much harder for the web site you are accessing to detect that you are using a VPN.

If you go the route of using a proxy, a VPN is the best. BitTorrent cannot traverse Tor or HTTP proxies. Tor can only relay HTTP traffic. BitTorrent, Flash, Shoutcast, and Windows Media cannot traverse any other kind of proxy.
