Damn that George Bush! Not only did is he responsible for instituting global warming, Hurricanes Irene & Katrina, the Indian Ocean Earthquake, the economy and the 911 disasters, but Hollywood is sure that he invented video piracy also! Over two and a half years after leaving office he’s still “KILLING THE PLANET”!

This piece of propaganda would have to rate among the top ten of the most creative things the MPAA has done or had a hand in all year (a close second to potentially admitting to tax fraud as Zanz and yawn have mentioned below).

What they forgot to add, us that ‘x’% of studios set up shell companies to avoid paying the correct amount of tax by funneling through Ireland, Cayman Islands, or other low tax countries, or tax havens.

Now that would be an interesting article for someone to investigate. Where do the studios receive their revenues for tax purposes.

They are also making the assumption that a good portion of the “stolen” copyrighted material would ever have been watched to begin with, if it wasn’t for the “illegal” downloading of them. I would be willing to bet there are some shows and movies that actually take in more money by being pirated (or at least get watched), because a lot of stuff being produced these days is CRAP. By being able to watch the content first, some people are then motivated to purchase the DVDs to have the extras, or because the movie/video is actually worth having. Also, if so much of it is illegally downloaded, have they taken into consideration the fact that bandwidth costs money, therefore ISP / Data Centers are doing more business, and in some smaller countries this may mean the difference in affordable internet or no internet at all, seeing as they rely on the revenue made by selling bandwidth to both the content provider and the person downloading. Of course not, they are just as selfish as the next person…company. etc…
