Yes it is somewhat saner than what many countries are proposing and/or trying to, or have already put into force. But this depends on how easy and practical it is to use the opportunity to defend oneself after getting caught infringing.

Yes, I agree that simple measures such as no DRM, sane prices and on demand availability will solve their ‘profit problem’, but this is only a band-aid fix for an even bigger problem. The problem of applying rights and ownership to an idea, and then licensing it. In terms of digital products at least, I see this as being the biggest problem, and is the core issue that needs to be dealt with.

Put aside the disconnection it seems to be saner than most laws proposed out there. Except it will not work like the others.

It has been pointed ad nauseam that if the media industry adopts a few simple measures such as no DRM, sane prices, on demand availability – all of them perfectly feasible – the problem of the profits they can`t fetch because of their lack of brains will be solved.
