When i was younger i pirated my whole life, im talking organized back in the BBS scene with early groups like TRSI, THG, RAZOR1911. Not just apps/games, but consoles, mp3s (i was a founding member) then finally the movies. Even kids movies until my kids got older to ask where are these coming from. At the end of the day you need to understand the full dynamic of the situation. It is two-faced to blame these companies for pursuing legal recourse, or charging so high for the product, when you consume it. At the end of the day, the companies are trying to get money from a product that they created. The market value of the product is determined by the consumers. Arguably, the 'value' like any other thing in the US has risen significantly because our fat asses want more out of a movie than that existed 10 years ago. We want the highest res, 5.1/7.1, the dream of 3d, incredible pixar animations, simulated destruction of cities that you can't tell the difference between film and real life. At the end of the day, a pirate needs to come on terms with the simple concept that "hey im stealing and getting shit for free" versus trying to be a god damn philosopher about it. It is important to understand that on the real scene, usenet and torrents have always been irrelevant, and lamer territory designed only for the leeches that consume but do not contribute to the actual scene, such as running a site, being a releaser, being a courier. So the only people that should really be complaining about this are the mass of uncontributing pirates. Just because you contribute to nzbmatrix's index or forum doesnt make you part of anything. Listen, i loved nzbmatrix back in the day, as well as OiNK for music. The simple fact is, the RIAA or any of these companies will never cut down the real source of piracy, and it will never effect the real pirate scene. And, the RIAA is not interested in that. They want to cut down common day thieves (like most of you idiots) from stealing their shit. Because despite you saying "i wouldn't buy it anyway", the fact is, "you probally would have". Thats just how it is. Again, put the drama down and really look at the facts. Your a common day thief. Just because you learned how to install a codec, put up a HTPC and automate your nzb's, unrar + par's on your linux router does not make you gifted or special. You can go to the library and get 2-yr old movies just fine or borrow from your friends. But, you want that 0 day transformers flick before everyone else. So get off your high horse guys and look at yourself in the mirror. If your not happy with yourselves, then kick the habit and do something far more productive than maintaining your movie collection and zoning out in front of the TV. If your angry that the usenet scene is going away, then contribute to another scene (the world is bigger than torrents, look around). If you want to still be a leech, haha, well, learn to be a more sustainable one and increase your scope. Maybe get into wifi hacking and really push the limits of late night torrenting across your neighborhood. But dont try to justify your actions through bullshit.
