OiNK Admin Released From Custody
Written by Ernesto on October 23, 2007After a turbulent day the admin of the raided OiNK.cd was released from custody. At this point it is still unclear what the legal consequences will be, but it is good to see that OiNK is back home.
The OiNK admin contacted TorrentFreak by email which confirms his release. As for the OiNK users, it is highly doubtful that the IFPI or BPI will go after them all, or even one of them. They do know how to scare people with messages like: “A criminal investigation continues into the identities and activities of the site’s users”, but there is no evidence that they actually will.
More interesting perhaps, how did they gain access to the OiNK domain, and why are they allowed to spread this propaganda? They are not a law-enforcement agency.
NFOrce, the ISP of OiNK, said today in an interview that they were not aware of any illegal activities surrounding the site. They thought OiNK was hosting a streaming video site or a weblog. Yeah, right.
The BBC did a small report on the arrest with a lot of false information, releasing nonsense statements such as: “illegally downloading music onto his website” and “paying subscriptions to enter the website.” The video of the arrest is shown below, see for yourself.

I had a warning as my start page on my browser this morning from my ISP.
It said that they received a complaint indicating that my IP address had been indentified as being used to distribute copyrighted material and if this issue was not resolved, my account would be terminated.
I can only assume this is a result of OiNK’s recent invesitgation. Can anyone confirm a similar message?
Received an email from my ISP advising me that my details have been passed to the police as part of an ongoing criminal investigation and my broadband service will be ceased in 7 days.
Holy Shitoly Batman…
I didn’t upload a great deal of music but did upload thousands and thousands of pounds worth of ebooks
This is not cool :(
are you serious?
This is certainly good news that the admin has been released. I’m sure the anti piracy organization responsible for this will have some questions to answer, as they flat out lied about a list of things. I’d say it’s only a matter of timke before Oink is up and running again.

he’s out on bail, that means he’s been charged. Hardly good news. It just means they arent’ keeping him locked up till there’s a trial.

im not sure that tells anyone anything. What was in (or not in) the servers that can be used against people? What does ip snatches mean? How does that impact people who uploaded and what does being released on bail mean? I would have thought hat actually means he’s been charged.
i was unable to cheat on oink with ratio master, so I’m kind of glad its gone :D
jk :P
I got a warning from my ISP provider too. It said good luck chuck your fucked.

today a biker courier came to my door and gave me an envelope
it was before lunch so i did resumed my daily ritual of emptying ashtrays and catlitter. it would be quicker but i like the to sniff the butts … makes me think of the days when i was married with children and animals all around me. sometimes i lick the cat poo if it is not too hard
after lunch, about 18:00 hours, my nurse arrived and she tore open the envelope. it said
“you are a bad person and we know who you are, you bad man/woman* *delete as appropriate. we are3 cominmg for4 you”
as a consequence i have refused to have a bath and the catlitter stays in the kitchen because they use it against me. my water meter is spinning because they they arte watching me
God bless everyone

I got a warning and I live in the USA. It didn’t say anything about police investigation like the other poster, but it’s enough to scare me into not upping/downing anything else from torrent sites.
probably the best argument i once saw somewhere was essentially:
if i make my own music and i make my own torrent file and up it to a tracker and that tracker is confiscated, then aren’t my copyrights being violated? after all, i created the torrent file which means i own the copyright to it. and then extending the argument to legally uploaded music i think there is cause for one to sue the agencies that took the site down for some kind of ‘business impact’ or denial of service/freedom.
let’s all unite and sue for our torrent files!!
oinkybank is really rakin in the cash it looks like
oink is going to be able to afford OJ’s lawyer soon
THERE IS NO OFFICIAL FUND
It’s only a matter of time before the UK falls in line with the US.
illegal p2p is about to get a bit more nastier for us brits.
Why haven’t you posted about this?!

you can get the details for where this oink guy lives off the internet extremely easily (though i don’t condone doing it). Security for this sort of behaviour is a joke and i doubt anything that’s written in that blog.

If anything happens to the users of oink my belief is that the future is going to be a total dystopia. It sounds paranoid, but someday the thought police will come for you (because you thought of downloading an mp3 :o).
if anything happens to the users of oink it will be because the guy knows nothing about internet security and registered the place with his name and address. I find that unbelieveably stupid.
Downloading music is wrong? Charging $20-$30 is right? Let us face the facts, the current music industry is greedy, plain and simple. Most people who “make it” in the music industry aren’t even worth the $20 that they charge for consumers to listen to them. Sites like OiNK recognize the corrupt and money hungry corporates who worship the all-mighty dollar and sites like this is the world’s way of fighting back. The truths of this world are always considered wrong, that is why we as a planet are monitored so closely, and asked to pay so much for the small things in life, that there is no wonder that sites like this come up. I mean, are the artists who produce CDs really worth their multi-billion dollar fortunes that they establish for putting out one or two cds? What makes them worth it and real hard working people who give it there all, not? Why should we have to shell out so much money for something that we listen too? The admin of OiNK and even the admins of other sites all know and feel like we feel, so they do something about it.
Want a solution? Don’t tempt people to break the law, because that is all the music industry is doing by all of this. Charge what a cd is actually worth and not what the artist, and all the people he has to pay out, think it’s worth. The IFPI and BPI have it all wrong, go after those companies that are extorting people to pay X amount of dollars for 12 songs when only 1 or 2 is all that we wish to hear. Basically, slap the music industries and artists in the face because if they cant understand why sites like OiNK exist, it truly shows that they need to win this war because without their fame, they are nothing.
OH MAN THIS IS TOTAL BULLSHIT SINCE WHEN WAS IT ILLEGAL TO ILLEGALLY DOWNLOAD FILES?!?!
calm down crybabies, it’s just torrents not a way of life. “dystopia”, what the hell are you talking about
“if they cant understand why sites like OiNK exist, it truly shows that they need to win this war because without their fame, they are nothing.”

I AM SO SAD. I’M CRYING.
