Encryption sounds like a good idea at first, but on the long run is useless: at least in one western country (UK), you can now already be be sentenced to prison time if you refuse to hand out the decryption key (i.e., much alike refusing an alcohol test) – and I’d be sure you will not have to wait for long before this law propagates to quite a few others.
