I don’t know how British law works, but such a case in a US court would likely end in a not guilty verdict for the defendants, or at the very least cause the judge to declare a mistrial.

Another thing that can be done is for Torrentfreak to make a seperate page including a forum for this important case, and get as much help as you can to the accused. There is bound to be some lawyers out there that would take an interest in this case. If that is done I’m positive that PirateBay, Isohunt, mininova and others would get creative with their logos, and refer to such a site. I’m not a lawyer, hell I’m not even english speaking, but I do know what needs to be done. Don’t write to your local politicians because that will not help. The only way to win this is to create so much hell on the internet thats even possible, and frequent local and national medias comment fields.

Fuck the politians. Write to journalists you relate to, and let them read interesting and intelligently written letters concerning the issue at hand.

And what to write? It should not be a rant about filesharing at all because even I’m bored with that. Write about the threat our enemy is to freedom and civil liberties, and emphasize on how this not only concerns us, but should be a very important issue for them as well. The internet is everyones source to date.

I’m not scared when they take down trackers, and that should not be the issue. Democracy, freedom and civil liberties are at stake here. And they deserve to know. All people deserve to know.
