OiNK.me.uk is Dead, Long Live OiNK.cd
Written by Ernesto on July 03, 2007OiNK.me.uk is no more, the end of a legendary domain name was announced today. Due to “legal” issues with their domain registrar the popular private BitTorrent tracker decided to give up their domain name and move to OiNK.cd.
The DNS issues caused trouble for thousands of users over the past few days. Accessing OiNK was only possible by manually hacking into the hosts file.
Unfortunately the legal issues with the domain registrar (Nominet) seemed to be unsolvable. The dispute was caused by the British law firm Addleshaw Goddard. On behalf of ebook writer Darren Shan they demanded that Nominet took action against OiNK.
“Kind of stupid really, since his crappy ebooks had about 10 snatches total, and this is predominantly a music site”, OiNK said in a response, and they saw no other solution than to switch to a new domain. The domain change was announced on the OiNK website earlier today:
“Because of the recent DNS issues, and the undesirable solution to fix them, we are changing the site’s name from OiNK.me.uk to OiNK.cd. The OiNK.me.uk domain will soon cease to function, and a full changeover will happen shortly.”
The OiNK team also advises its users to re-download all .torrent files. “Torrents downloaded from now on will contain 2 tracker addresses, the new OiNK.cd domain, and the tracker’s IP address, which should make any future DNS issues less serious”, they say.
Members who don’t want to re-download all .torrent files can also use the hosts file workaround, which might be an easier option for people who have 100+ torrents loaded into their BitTorrent client.

I have been part of oink for around half a year and i love it, the ratio thing is easy to over come just let your computer run over night wile you sleep and watch your ratio maybe don’t download for a day. Then if you not a fan of Oink fine everyone has their own opnion, but is it necessary to slander it?

I’m a paying member of Demonoid, and my ratio has NEVER gotten below 1.1 (even before the days of paying). But alas, I guess i haven’t met the right people as of yet, so there will be no OINK.cd for me (yet).

You’re dumb. They get like 5000 invitebeggars @ day, and there’s no such thing as invitation room.
So Oink.me.uk is gone. I had an account until the site changed its name. Whats happened to are accounts. Did they just not transfer over to oink.cd? My login wont work on the new site. How do I get a new account or what do i do? any help?
I love Oink. Their users community is great, and they have one heck of a lot of music. But their staff are arrogant as hell. I recently found my account disabled, so I went onto the help channel to ask why (actually I thought I had disabled it by logging in wrong). They snidely told me that I was banned for “selling invites”, and immediately banned me from the IRC channel. I mean what the hell, I wasn’t a even power user yet, so it would have been impossible for me to have invites to sell. I want in. I have a total ratio of 12.06 (according to uTorrent). I want to be a part of they community there. But the staff are too phucking arrogant to hear my case.
P.S. I was courteous at the time, and I am prepared to let go of my frustration and discuss the matter civilly and courteously if they are willing to give me a chance to talk with them.
Does anyone have a Oink invitation? I can give a demonoid invite. Thankx

I would love to have an invite I have tried for about a year and I am kinda shy so I guess I have not tried hard enough. I have great ratios on all other site like demonoid and uknova… I would not ruin your status at all. In fact I promise to upload only my first week.. if someone would please think about sending me an invite…

Oink? that’s probably the siteop’s sound when his pink flaming fag ass is raping his pet pig. I have never been on this site except to see the corny homepage. I read the rules and I am so glad that asshole is in jail. I wonder if he will still like pink when he get’s out.
