I'm a webpage designer and I prefer Opera - it's just the easiest browser. I tried FF for a week but was irritated about a lot so I got back to Opera. I even paid for it (old ver.)

About compatibility:
IE isn't more compatible - it just doesn't see some badly placed html/php code. And that isn't good. Opera and FF have equally good engine but can't really say which is faster cause I'm in a 100Mbit network and webpages just flash.

Netscape (now Mozilla) was made to beat IE and Opera's was made for a noregian telecom company but turned out to be so good, that it went worldwide.

I don't hate M$ so I don't like the "kill Bill" attitude

PS: BitTorrent client is beta since v8.50

PPS: I have Opera on my Motorola A925 :) It roxx :]

Cheers to Magnus.
I agree with your statements. Both browsers have their pros and (few) cons... though they far surpass the limitations of the old IE.
Opera allows saved sessions and opening in a background (as opposed to a foreground window) but is sometimes not able to render some pages. IE and FF still get more compatibility testing by webmasters and page designers it seems. Either way, the competition is good as it inspires creativity and product innovations in the computer industry.

The problem it seems is that how ever anyone put it, it comes out wrong. People have opinions, and some people are the type who wants to tell everybody they're right (not left that is). Then the people who are told they are "wrong" shout back. Also known as a flamewar. It's sad to see that what could have evolved as an intelligent discussion about the topic on hand, ends up as a flamewar. FireFox vs. Opera - and the guy telling the fanboys that they are idiots.

Personally I prefer opera, but off course - I'm from Norway. We make the shit ;). But I do indeed respect other peoples opinions and rights, but I don't have much respect for people who can't finish a thought. If you can't put words on why you think one is better than the other - keep your mouth shut and everything goes a lot smoother. Btw. FireFox are in many cases a much better browser than Opera, but as I said - I prefer Opera, it's just a subject about taste.

how many of you actually understand what goes into the making of these various browsers? are you people that criticize with "____ sucks" only saying that because your "smart friends" told you to use a different utility? probably the same ones that skipped out on advanced math and science courses in favor of the "hands-on" classes more commonly referred to as "shop classes"?

I find Opera to be far too cumbersome and large...i like the streamlined nature of Firefox...and one it fully integrates Bittorrent usage it will be AMAZING
