There are thousands of open source applications and community projects that have nothing to do with money.

If this one will provide free movies and let people donate to a movie of their choice, what’s the big deal?

I just hope the donation system will be one without percentages involved. As in, the site won’t take a percentage, but instead rely on donations of its own. Either by users or filmmakers who have had good use of the site.

rewarding influencers with virtual currency? How do I pay my bills with that? We all know that the day will come when media will delivered online so why are we not reinventing the promotional, and compensation programs for media within the very group who caused the disruption?

Original Pirates were people who were oppressed by business owners and government who stood up and took what they wanted but over time became businesses themselves that provided for them and other groups in need and became self regulated.

why is everyone so afraid to make a living off of digital goods? People on this site want to consume but they’re chicken shit to actually monetize.

I’d like to “promote” a few films and actually get paid in real money for my time. If and what people pay is up to them, but at least reward the influencer for their time.

Am I the only one who thinks that this should be the way its done?

@1 no they are called reward points same shit as is done buy corporations all over…it has to lead somehow to a sale of somehting and thus no longer is donation based its just plain old capitalism.

I don’t need recognition and i don’t want their money. This whole “it’s free, donate if you want” thing will turn sour quick if people begin to be motivated by financial gain versus just doing it for the cause.

What’s the problem? They are giving us their movies for free. Besides people go around promoting movies all the time for free merely by talking about them (blogging on the web for instance, tweeting, facebook), this is merely a way to provide some recognition for that support from the public.

Garbage! they can take their ‘do’ and put in where the sun don’t shine.
