It’s no secret that Paulo Coelho, best-selling author of books such as “The Alchemist” and “The Witch of Portobello,” is a fan of sharing.
When we interviewed him nearly three years ago he told us the following:
“Since the dawn of time, human beings have felt the need to share – from food to art. Sharing is part of the human condition. A person who does not share is not only selfish, but bitter and alone.”
In the years that followed Coelho continued to voice this message, explaining to publishers and the mainstream media that sharing is often the sensible thing to do. In fact, Coelho believes that he sells more books because of piracy.
Today he writes yet another article on his love for pirates.
“When I was active on Myspace (I am not anymore), “Fly me to the moon” (Frank Sinatra) was deleted from my profile. So who deleted the song? The answer is simple: greed and ignorance.”
“Greed that does not understand that this world has changed. Ignorance that thinks that, if the music is available for free, people are not going to buy the CD.”
