So, I’m pretty sure that he committed suicide.

However. That he died, it’s a failure (again) for the swedish mental care system.

The fact that he died makes me sad. I respect the wishes to keep the details private.

However it is not ‘sick’ to want to know what happened. That is natural and a positive behavior in society.

Of course the rules are different nowadays. I ‘know’ Botami, but he doesn’t know me, which is a relationship our emotions are not designed to handle. That doesn’t make our feelings bad.

You can’t at the same time expect people to be sad for someone dieing and at the same time expect them not to want to know why/how. That’s not to say we have a right to know (we don’t), but we have the right to want to know.

The final decision to disband the group came after Ibi Kopimi Botani, a prominent member and co-founder of the group, passed away. Without one of its greatest minds, the group would never be the same again, Piratbyrån’s member felt….

He was a hero to many. We would all like to know what happened.

I knew Ibi well, and he would have loved the trolling!

The site was taken down for several days, but returned to operations on June 25, 2010.

Glad to hear Piratbyrån’s work is done. I guess this means piracy is legal now.

This shouldn’t be restricted to just Microsoft either other companies Apple/MAC, Ashampoo, AutoDesk, etc should release older versions of there software.

Also spare a thought for those who still don’t have an internet connection to there home! Forget about web based or even CD key based protection. I have at least one computer I can think of off the top of my head that doesn’t have an internet connection that I can’t install decent software on because I can’t register them with a net connection. That and I can’t use free alternatives because the files I’m opening .docx .ppsx etc aren’t supported by the free programs because MS haven’t deigned to release the coding for open-source developers. Let’s have some transparency here. I’m all for intellectual property to a point. Where the company who hold the rights to a program or OS holds a %50+ share in the market they shouldn’t be allowed to push reasonable competition out of the market just because they hold all the cards!

On that note: keep an eye out in the next couple of years for an OS called Horizons. Development, I hope, will start next year with full support of Microsoft, Linux, and Mac Programs, however well see if my idea takes off. Without the above being permitted I’m not going to be able to get access to basic source codes to figure out the interaction between the OS’s and Program’s for the writing of completely new non-proprietary codes legally.

Why do this? SIMPLE! This will remove the divide between Microsoft, Linux, and Macintosh anyone will be able to program for it and while there will be a new code structure that they could write programs with there would be no need to change if they’d already bought an MS development pack for instance. Also drivers from all operatin systems would be supported. No more hunting for compatible device drivers for your OS! And the whole idea is that it could run on literaly any hardware. YES even your mobile phone, mp3 player, PSP, DS, Xbox, PS, etc. so long as it has a RGB screen!

Impossible you say! Well no. Linux OS’s have already been written for the iPod, iPhone, Xbox, and many more I’m sure, so why not take it to the next level!

Commone everyone be a good sports. Remember back when your program/OS was still new anyone could walk in take a look at the program and make suggestions couldn’t they. Return to the good old days where everyone could have a say.

On TPB, the site is down currently due to the death of a founding member of Piratbyrån. RIP Piratbyrån! TPB is expected to be back online as usual after a time of mourning.

Great work Piratbyrån and TPB and good luck in the future. You allowed those of us access to other wise inaccessible worlds. Mainly software and have given us a way to protest that we never had before
