And what if you found a perfect equation for all songs, that relied on basic similarities of music, like the 4 bar build, and simply changed a few specific frequencies, that show up in every bar, every single bar...?

Just 1 more crazy idea, let me know what you think!!

What if you designed a program that took audio files, and converted them into a standard file format (say .mp3) and then took a several specific, and relatively inaudible notes, and altered them slightly. Or perhaps just move the notes out of key by deci/milliseconds.

Wouldn't that make the file unprotected by a copyright?

I'm certain someone with a better knowledge of music production could come up with something that made a song no longer protected by a copyright, but vary the sound so slightly that the changes seemed inaudible...

List of half-assed ideas. You let me know if this helps.

Host it in Spain.

Host it on the North Pole? But be ready for when that bitch melts in 50 yrs!!

Host it on Antartica

Host it in New Zealand

What's wrong with the boat idea? I like it. But it needs to either have a permanent crew, or no deck, and only 1 door(+ would needs to be bullet proof n shit).

The satellite and the balloon = stupid, short-sighted ideas.
(2 yrs later harddrive fails and world-wide headlines read: Million dollar fuck-up!!)

The Boat sounds like the most inexpensive option. How the fuck did you only raise 20 k? WTF? Seriously? Dude you need at least 200 k to buy a boat with no deck, bullet proof siding, and state-of-the-art electronics, and modern energy-efficiency. Plus the 50 k to buy servers, and have them hardwired into the boat... Although that you could feasibly do yourselves...

The problem with buying a country and making it independent like that is it will have no protection from Neighboring countries. Remember Kuwait? If (another country) wants that island, for whatever reason, they'll just come TAKE it, unless it's under the protection of another, larger country (and therefore most likely subject to their laws)..

Not to mention that an island is going to have mutiple OC-45 lines, or Fiber, or whatever they want to use for connectivity, running to an ISP in the neighboring country - giving them a single point of failure should the lines be cut, severed, or disabled by the upstream ISP (same goes for the satellite).

The best bet (IMO) is to use distributed computing in some method to search *.TORRENT files (much like Limewire did, but without the single point of failure of shutting down the Limewire servers, as we just saw happen), and then do your torrenting behind a VPN. Almost complete privacy that way, and no single server to go after that's hosting *.torrent files, and no way to track who's transferring behind VPN.
