i wonder if the authorities will remove the option of actually USING or CASHING IN those donations near the time they are needed? not saying that they are untrustworthy but they are or are connected to the government and we all know we can trust governments implicitly, dont we??

If you think campaign finance laws have anything to do with financial abuse in politics I’m afraid you are sadly mistaken.

People of money hardly donate to parties, they’re more about individual campaigns, because it’s easier to manipulate individuals with your money. They also form groups like ‘public action committees’ and the like to funnel huge amounts of sort-of-but-not-really indirect support to a campaign, which does not need to be reported.

For instance, a group called “Californians for Social Responsibility” need not be so honest about its finances even if it runs ads defaming another politician in favor of another.

The UK party is. It already confirmed that it could accept cryptocurrency a whole ago and is working on an implementation that makes sense and that meets the rules required (the same rules that apply to cash donations). It should arrive with the party’s new site this month (the party has just been through a bit of a consolidation on the tech side, securing its email and so on..).
