However, reading on their party platform I see they now instead state they would not like to see filesharing decriminalized – just that they feel IPRED should go, that no police priority should be placed on enforcing copyright, and that private interests should have no say in police action.

In short, no, they don’t want it decriminalized. Just, like jaywalking, rendered meaningless to try to enforce. Mea Culpa.

Still boils down to kicking the copyright cult in the nuts. without having to come out with a positive stance on personal integrity, mind…

Aaron Swartz is a hero. The people voting pirate are simply civic-minded citizens. To call people acting the way conscience and good sense compels them “heroes” is to dilute the term.

I still maintain that “pirates” need neither heroes nor leaders. They just need to be decent people in order to remain active.

We need people to take a more sceptic stance towards established media and seek information for themselves. That is why a free internet is most important issue.
