Actually, its $1.75 per vote, per year, and that only happens if 2% of the popular vote is reached. We do not receive any funding from the government as we did not reach that percentage during the recent election.

Each vote counts as two dollars that goes to the political parties. harper wants to end that by 2003. Google it.

The Pirate Party of Canada receives no public funding as it does not meet the minimum number of votes (which I believe is 5%).

Thomas, we have to have 3% of the votes in each member state that combines, iirc.

Thank you all for the kind comments. I am however well aware that this a small portion of the votes, especially when we are elected under FPTP here, which sadly won’t be changing.

I still hope the pirate parties will all register as 1 party in the next european election, with everyone from europe voting in, we have a high chance for some more seats in the parlement.
