You shouldn’t trust alexa’s “numbers” but comparisons over time are correct because they should include the same measure error.

But I agree that alexa is not that great (read spyware). The figures may be not that accurate, but it is a great tool to compare sites and to get a global impression of traffic shifts over time.

Just recentl Slashdot moved from 300 to 500 back to 300 in a month.
