However, it IS a monopoly. Check the history of steam engines for a classic tale. Under Stephenson’s patent term steam engines stagnated. it wasn’t until hte monopoly expired that real progress was made.
Likewise with cinema. Edison’s company held the patents and he was very restrictive. That led a bunch to try and move west to avoid paying the licensing and ignore hte monopoly. What hapened to them.. oh yeah, they got to a place called Hollywood and set up shop, as the patent term was ending.

What happens to the people, not the imaginary “institutions,” but the people whose livelihood is pushing The People around, if they refuse to throw hundreds, thousands, even hundreds of thousands of The People out of their homes and anger the bankers? What happens if they refuse to loot the savings of ten, a hundred, a thousand times as many and anger the bankers?

The argument you put forward for calling this a monopoly could be used for almost any industry. For example, mobile phones are covered under trademark and patent law, so nobody can produce and sell phones under the name iPhone except Apple. Nobody says that there’s a monopoly on mobile phones. There are several companies that produce phones and there is competition. It’s not a monopoly. I think you’re using the word incorrectly.
