Release groups got busted
Written by Ernesto on January 26, 2006Some big players in “the scene” have been eliminated yesterday during a big raid coordinated by a German anti-piracy federation (GVU). The raids took place in Germany, Holland, Poland, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Over 300 homes were raided and 30 individuals were arrested. The GVU confiscated more than 20 servers that were (according to the GVU) used to spread pirated movies, games and software.
As soon as the raids begun rumors started to spread around the internet. Release groups tried to warn eachother and the leader of the RELOADED group was reported to be arrested. The GVU released a press release (german) stating that the folowing groups were taken down: Unreality, DRAGON, Laboratory, Heaven, code talk, GTR, ECP, TRCD, AOS, MRM, SITH, GWL, Cine VCD, AHE, Cinemaniacs, dump station and IOH.
These raids will definately have a strong impact on the availability of pirated material in the next months. However, release groups are flexible, they will probably back down for a while and reorganize their infrastructure but they will be back or replaced within notime.

No sh!t, jolly roger arrests here in Poland? Well, then our cybercops have their yearly quota filled now… no need to panic for the next 11 months or so… anyway, we\’re liberal around here when it comes to filesharing, so it\’s probably those Polizeis who pushed things so far.
Hold firm, guys.
tP.
Fuck The GVU, they are shit
“If U Think GVU Are Full Of Pricks CLAP YOUR HANS!!!!!!”
Glad I live in Canada, where this sort of thing has been deemed legal (for the time being) by our supreme court.
The DC hub bust few months ago, now this, it’s getting hoter here, but yeah the yearly quota for piracy busts is filled. We shouldn’t see any more of this for a while now :)
Who knows, they might actually be ‘cracking down’ on this sort of thing — we’ll see.
I’m hoping that the ‘exposure’ the scene has been getting will actually help it in the end, gaining the public’s respect - what it needs is a little bit of advertisement.
A huge issue is where companies like google.com become so popular that they hold the ‘monopoly’ on ads, where they’re the most flexible, etc, and where big companies like google just shut down their affiliation with any groups like that as soon as they can — rather unfortunate.
Finally somebody’s taking out the eurotrash……..
The happens a lot in industrialized backwards countries because stupid young kids which dont have a job or a crappy one want to make money off something they didnt make.
The rule between us programmers is if you like it you buy it, instead there are newbs downloading games thinking they are free.
Most of the world will be cracked down heavily. Most notably europe because the EU passed new laws that removed people’s privacy on the internet….something we take for granted in america.
There was also a large crackdown in asia where the chinese police shut down many blank cd\dvd manufacturing plants because they were manufacturing pirated disks.
If we could make the GVU to look as gestapo then we might encurage the former Allies to embrace piracy and beat the evil german government but that’s just my ideas spinning away.
“want to make money off something they didnt make”
How exactly do these kids make money again?
It’s not my fault your president has you by a leash, my hick friend…
I agree. And who exactly is it that is making all the money..?
And as for the American “Go Back To Sleep”
It is the industry’s own fault!! The have let us pay to much money for music and games in the past!! Now they are realizing that they can’t win this one, so they go crying to the government asking for help!!
And OUR f*cking government is helping those “poor” bastards!! So the conclusion must be : we (the people) are always the ones who get f*cked!!
well i do agree with shdwsclan statement “The rule between us programmers is if you like it you buy it, instead there are newbs downloading games thinking they are free.”…….most newbs do dl lots of sh!t and try to sell it to there friends…as is happening here in asia…but c’mon the industry is f*cked up….all they do is clone best selling programs, and try to do better.. and failling…so i say “F*CK OUR GOVERMENT FOR HELPING THEM!!!!!!”
big message here. lot’s to say. ‘go back to sleep american’ — i’m not even going there. Get your heads out of your @sses, You’re leaders did the busting. on kids. LIKE YOU. Kids with computers in their houses, trying to free simple information (be it inexpensive and predominantly benign). Perhaps your leaders have you on leashes? Maybe we are not so different in our convictions. No privacy on your internet eh? Might as well have a camera in your house watching your computer screen, that pivots to watch you exit the room when you go to pee. No wonder the sleepy americans take it for granted. They can. The RIAA is here. You have to see this. More and more american kids are getting busted. For dumb sh1t. FOR MUSIC. Our governments are (usually) more concerned with those ones who are actually hacking… you know- hackers.
Guys sitting up in prison. still. after years without trial. Some of you know what i’m getting at. Most of you don’t. and won’t. People who are stealing credit card information, phreaking fones and piggybackers, stealing corporate databanks, changing vital informations/functions on closed servers (anyone remember the yahoo/mitnick hack?).. the enemy. But not lately. More and more kids are getting busted for computer piracy. and most of them are NOT CHARGING FOR THE SOFTWARE. Isn’t that what piracy started as? Selling software you didn’t actually pay for? But if you’re not selling it, then what is it? It’s called freeing information. But it still makes us the enemy. it’s us. Can’t you see that? We’re all guilty when we cannot be sorted. You know the drill — hate the enemy - free the information :P. Most of these ‘release’ kids have an inside line at a software distro or a freaking game/movie shop. They are actually paying for these releases, so that others may experience them for free– and that’s the excuse. The great achievement. Do you really think even if the prices for software were lowered that the average american OR GERMAN kid would still pay for them? Of course they would. Yeah, how many of you kids truly own any Propellerheads software? Adobe? MICROSOFT??? How about anything from Steinberg? Yeah. Crap’s expensive eh? Pretty easy to get for free too. Hell, why not right? Getting a movie/app a month early? FREE? Give me a break. those who keep their piracy network centered to a server in their house(reloaded?) are you serious? you kept that in your house? my God. Never seen razor, phrozen or risc with that problem eh? delerium? You probably won’t, either. Especially since europe apparently has *no* privacy on the internet. I cannot say that no one else would make a mistake like that, but it does not take experience in rocket science to know that some things can blow up in your face if handled improperly. Next time, keep it somewhere else. Besides, I’m not the first one who said it: NOTHING BEATS A QUALITY ORIGINAL! LIKE IT? BUY IT!
Wake up germany. Release groups RiSE and FALL…all the time (pun). Have been since the 80s. Any bbs baby knows that.
You guys are talking about warez. There is nothing to say. Nobody respects your opinion, nor mine so why don’t you go release something instead of whining.
wooohooo… stealing is wrong… or at least only for the little man in the street.
Price agreements are also illegal, you know (cd/dvd).
Companies all over the world are ‘restructurating’ because, we people cost too much, and what brings the end of the year? right, more profit for the company then the year before.
If you like something, you pay for it. Well, few thoughts:
I got 400 and cd’s and a numberlike quantity DVD’s, i was making a calculation last time, for cd’s only… cost me more than my car for f…sake, cd’s ONLY. On a cd you have an average of 3 good songs, most of them not for sale as a single, so you have to buy the full cd, iTunes selling them, if lucky, seperatly, but in worse quality than i could pirate-download them.
A DVD then, non-skippable warnings, and i can’t skip ‘next to come’ crap, when running a DisneyDVD in my player either, THAT`S IRRITATING. I’ve come to a point know, that i’m making copies of my BOUGHT dvd’s to avoid this, should i ask a refund? What’s more, here in Belgium, I pay taxes to a RIAA-clone when buying empty cd/dvd’s, EMPTY, and since a few months, if you buy a computer, you pay a taxation on it too, and next in row is an extra cost for your internet account. So, i pay TWICE (nearby future three times) taxes for copying, still i’m breaking the law when making a home-copy. SO, who’s stealing of whom?
Is this whining, yes it is, is this frustration, sure, do I have a point, hell yeah!
Stealing is right if you’re able to pay a good (team of) lawyer(s).
meh, i only download games as a trial. i usually buy em sooner or later if i like em. if not *DELETE*! but i can certainly understand why they wanna stop ppl from distributing their games for free, games aint cheap to make these days.
Come on, get real…Do you think that the average kid could pay for all the software that they need. Look, first get the computer which will were I come from cost about $500.00 for a cheap one. Then pay for adobe Photoshop CS, if you want it like I do for $400-$700 depending on where you get it and with what. Then all the games that you want $15-$70. Then if your computer comes with Microsoft Xp Home edition (really lame by the way) and you want Professional that is another $150-$200. Now you might want some really good web making software Dreamweaver etc…$200-$450(prices I have seen for it along). This is without Macromedia flash and Fireworks and such along with it. Don’t even get me started on all the DVD’s people might want but can’t afford. I don’t think that running a server would be a very good idea, but if you are posting here you have gotten some stuff from here too. Now for the average kid they have gotten a computer and want to do something with it, and don’t have the money so I support getting things the only way they can. So please think about it from there point of view. Microsoft and other large companies have found a way to support themselves so far and they will continue. In the meantime that kid with the laptop out of the trash that he have spent hours repairing will also be able to use it. ^_^
Glad they have so much free time after getting all the rapist and child molestors off the street to work on something else, like picking on college kids that bootleg what they can’t afford.
I love the fact that the internet has leveled the playing field for anyone who wants to learn how to use expencive software. In my opinion intellectual property being distributed on the net is a good thing, not only for the consumer who now has an opportunity to protect himself from companies who release shitty software and albums with only one good song on it. But it is also good for the software companies. For example, if everyone who has an internet connection goes and gets photoshop then everyone knows how to use it, hence large companies will purchace licences because all of their employees are familiar with that software.
When it comes to music, if you love it buy it. As far as software is concerned, I appriciate the fact that it costs so much to produce and that companies have to survive however, I dont think that the good people at microsoft are going to be starving anytime soon.
damn relax peeps … those are just rumors, they wish they would have taken them all down. na didnt happen like this … peace out
I am from a third world country. India to be exact.
For over a hundred years, we were bled by the British, the French, Dutch and Portugese. Our national wealth is today, on display in various museums of Europe. From being one of the richest civilizations, we have been reduced to a so called ‘3rd world’ by the violence of the west.
Hobhouse, Henry Writes: “Finally, the VOC (Dutch East India COmpany) ruled over eight foreign governments in Amboyna, Banda, Ternate, Macassar, Malacca, Ceylon, Java and on the Cape of Good Hope. Factories stood in Bengal, on the Coromandel coast, in Surat, Thailand and on the Persian Gulf. In the end, the Dutch East Indies Company was the richest company in the world; it helped to finance the blossoming of Dutch civilisation: Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, Vondel, Grotius, Spinoza, the largest publishing operation in the world in the 17th century with numerous authors and poets, some forgotten today, all the painters architects and above all the patrons.

Today, Microsoft can easily release its Windows 95 or even WIndows 3.11 for free usage by the 3rd world.
Adobe can release its old versions of Photoshop for free.
Do they do that? Hell, no. They think of profiting immensely and more than their work merits.
Piracy is real world. Welcome to the real world.
Yeah, like Fireater said Microsoft could easily release their old OS for free and write it off in taxes as a charity expense but they are to high and mighty thinking how they will make their next buck. In my opinion Microsoft OS users would be cut down by 1\4 if we couldn’t get their OS some other way. I for one would switch to Linux. More power to you fireater!!!! ^_^
hey guess what they been doing it since reel to reel…..i remember in the 80′2 in S Korea and Euro…getting black market casettes…pressed albums….it a never ending battle just now it being reported…..and being seen by more on the internet….it has been and will always be……they will never win….so cruise and relax….fuck gov.
From being one of the richest civilizations, we have been reduced to a so called ‘3rd world’ by the violence of the west.
India was a piss poor third world country before the”evil” white man invaded, and it’s now a very polluted smelly third world country today. They should be thankful the evil Europeans taught them how to exploit they’re resources. P.S The west owes you nothing. Create it yourself.
FYI:
for compairison:
We don’t have a DMCA laws in Europe that take away about every bit of fair-use rights a consumer has.
We don’t have Mitnick-like cases over here.
The fact is that when you play with fire u burn your fingers.
but if I wanted to play with it I still would do it in Europe since I don’t like 130Kg cellmates called Bob.
Europe is a much nicer place where still some correct laws exist. Too bad the US Entertainment lobby is gaining ground here so some dumb ass politicians think its better to bust a kid or 2 put them on trial and dance on his grave later on. It’s not like that didn’t happen in the US yet.
So stop trying to say the US is better than Europe, it isn’t. I’ve lived there I know what it’s like. Europe is a much more friendly place to live in. Atleast here they can’t fire my ass after 20 years of service with a 2 weeks notice. Now that’s illegal imho.
hey 3rd World Critic - Its true that the ‘West’ doesn’t owe anything & Indians (or other variety) should create for themselves, BUT, Indian economy from 1500 - 1800 was the largest in the world - about 25%; which is the same as US’s dominance now. So don’t talk Cr@p.
