Las leyes norteamericanas establecen entre 200 y 30 mil dólares por daños y perjuicios legales (por cada infracción) si estos no se hicieron de forma voluntaria (multiplicando el monto si lo fue). En tres ocasiones, las penalidades por cada una de esas 24 infracciones fueron de $9250, $80,000 y $62,500.  Cuando la corte redujo la penalidad a $2,250 por canción, la RIAA decide apelar OTRA VEZ.
