Why would anyone want to chromecast music anyway? I don’t understand the appeal if your TV still has to be on.

I have a long 3.5mm cable that lives in between my 2 lounges, directly connects to my receiver and I can therefore listen to audio from any device I choose. Similar story with the very long HDMI cable I have connected to my TV (which is in turn routed through to the receiver).

Electricity is so expensive in Australia these days, anything that doesn’t need to be turned on, isn’t.

Exactly. These arrogant asshats keep on shutting down these services because they are better than their own offerings and they hate that. They believe that only they should make any profit on their creations.
That is not how a middle-man economy (like the United States economy is for the most part) works.

Groovesharks HTML5 site has improved quite a bit since I last checked it out a few months ago, Spotify still uses Flash in it’s webplayer.

This is true. You could obliterate the MPAA and RIAA pretty easy, but not if Time Warner or Disney hop in.

The only way they could win is if Microsoft, Google, etc went up against all these companies, but it’s currently not expensive enough for them. Google is taking it from a lot of sides, but with the DMCA, they can basically just hire a bunch of dopes being paid whatever to blast through thousands of URLs per hour and not have to worry about anything. While the entertainment guys robo-send those DMCAs, I am sure Google robo-dismisses them.

however im sure the app is out there and will always exist now
it may not be updated but once something is in the wild (or genie is let out theres no way to put it back in the bottle)

next they will want android os to auto kill apps like they did with googles ebook reader

then there will be hack old google os-es right..
or virutal machine versions that gets around all the gov and company controls

like what many do with putting superuser back on it

i think its not really about artists.. its about sneaking in controls on the web and peoples devices.

they just dont like us having control on our own devices

What the RIAA and MPAA is doing is forcing the interwebs away from populare services and fueling the development of encrypted, anonymous and decentralized technologies. TPB will soon (we hope) release the first decentralized p2p website browser that will make websites that the public deems worthy invincible to censorship. I suppose one of these websites will be an app store.
