Ron Jeremy Takes on Porn Pirates
Written by Ernesto on March 18, 2008The legendary Ron Jeremy has had enough of video streaming sites such as YouPorn and PornTube, that host pirated versions of his epic movies for free. Jeremy says adult content deserves the same respect as Hollywood’s majors do, and is happy that Vivid Entertainment is going after these sites.
The public needs to understand that piracy is killing the adult industry, Jeremy said: “What harms the industry is the Internet. Before it was helpful. Every company had its own website. Now you have things like YouPorn and PornTube that show full-length features of Vivid’s movies. Who the f— do they think they are?”
Luckily for Jeremy, one of the world’s largest adult film creators, Vivid Entertainment Group, has had enough of these sites as well. Last December the company announced that it was taking legal action against PornoTube.com, and after that similar video streaming services.
“Now Vivid is suing them,” said Jeremy, while demanding the same treatment as his colleagues in Hollywood. “You wouldn’t see YouTube play a full-length feature of a Steven Spielberg film. But they think that it’s just porn so they can get away with it. So now Vivid is striking back. Piracy is piracy, whether the film is PG, R or X. We deserve the same respect.”
Jeremy is not the only one who is upset with all the pirates clips that float around on the Internet. In September we reported that some of the leading adult webmasters were discussing how they could take on BitTorrent sites, something they haven’t succeeded in so far.
There is no doubt that adult clips are widely shared on the Internet, especially via BitTorrent. Approximately 5% of all files being shared on public BitTorrent trackers are adult content, and most of these files are copyrighted. On top of that, sites such as Empornium, PureTnA and Cheggit solely focus on sharing porn, and are among the most popular private BitTorrent trackers on the Internet.

At least the porn industry have done what Hollywood hasn’t. There are adult websites offering unlimited downloads of DRM-free HD movies for a flat monthly fee. They are so far ahead of mainstream media that I think they are one of the few with a genuine case with p2p.

I worked in the Porn Industry and i dare say that the main reason Vivid etc. (incl. Jeremy) are taking this action cause they are losing money to the amateur industry (yeah just like in the music business).
People want to see the girl next door and not some - artificial created - silicone dolly.
Amateur videos got nice sales compared to those - socalled - profs. Just another great example of majors NOT listening to their
customers.

Is he looking at the same sites that I looked at? Because all I saw were crappy little 2-3 minute clips, not full-length videos.
I also agree about the girl-next-door appeal. Bleached-blonde porn “stars” with over-inflated beachballs sticking out of their chests don’t appeal to me at all.
The whole thing about youporn that I’ve noticed through, ehem, research, is that there are advertisements all over to premium content offered by third-party sites. Like a poster said, there’s mainly amateur porn and while that might be good enough for some, it certainly helps to build a market for the premium content. Don’t forget that many of the studios could easily post clips to sites like this as advertisement. Why fight the inevitable?
Ron Jeremy’s underbelly, disgusting as it is, isnt as seedy as the porn industry gets. The time ive seen that thing in action was on a documentry about early Homo-Erectus.
I’ll never watch it, but now im going to download some “film” with him in it, just to piss him off. :D
