generally speaking such s/w that is compatible (for a better word) with the iPhone is compatible with Touch?

might look into this for my Touch.

just off the track – but i was anti-apple. i then impulsively bought a Touch 16GB and i’m in love. iTunes is annoying – but you can learn to live with it. it could have this and could have that but its what it is – a strong multimedia device that is the trend at this moment….

“enter your IP and port, and you’re set.” THIS IS BULSHIT!!! Since 70% of internet user have private IP adressess it is imposible to identify a PC just by an IP and Port number…

So… my gues is that this app will work just for thouse who can aford a public IP adress (routale).!.

I love the iPhone. I don’t use the iPod, I just like having a great GUI for checking email and checking out websites.

GPS and cool apps make it worth it.

I’m sure in the future iPhone will be less restrictive but for now.. I think it’s way cool for what I want.

People Are stupid. How does DRM effect my iPhone usage? Not at all! AND I use my iphone as a hard drive everyday. And who gives a shit if everything on the iPhone is copyrighted?! How does that effect me!? How many phones are anything close to the iPhone? I’ve never seen anything up to par. I can’t really think of anything about the iphone I don’t like.

An APP for teh ifone. I concur with 17. Leave your fallacy at the door.
23: You enjoy your “open” product. And your large download. It’s like having to install the JRE to get Vuze to work.
Some people just prefer small things, even when you trust in the stability/security of someone else’s work.
I doubt you’ve ever hacked your own interface together, but you might have modified others’ work to suit your own needs, so I understand how “open source” would help you.

Huh?

The main reason Apple even uses DRM is because the copyright lobby demands it or else they’ll revoke Apple’s content distribution rights, so Jobs isn’t terribly interested in making it hard to crack. Therefore it’s basically a joke to circumvent.

The only reason the iPhone has tighter DRM than usual because Apple wants commercial App Store software to be unpiratable. Which sucks, although pirating iPhone software seems rather pointless to me in the first place. I mean, it may be a fancy cellphone, but it’s still a cellphone for the love of God. How much could any software for it even be worth pirating let alone buying?

Is the iPhone really a superb gadget? Let us not forget that everything about the iPhone is clearly ridden with copyright, both the gadget and the software that comes with it, which prevents anyone other than Apple from putting it to good use and making improvements on it.

Also, I can guess that the interface software is overly restrictive, even though I have never seen one. Surely, the iPhone is something over which people have not much control over even when it is their own possession, but rather something for which its uses are dictated by the people at the top, effectively forbidding all improvisations or creative uses for it.

In any case, I have never seen what an iPhone is like, so these surmises may not be accurate, but that the iPhone is all great is quite dubious given the nature of Apple.

I have been using SymTorrent on my Nokia E65 for some time.Works great.

iPhone no copy and paste?Oh dear!lol

Cheapo Nokia E65 has wifi,Symbian OS allowing many free apps to be installed,can download torrents with SymTorrent AND…..can copy and paste!
Im sure there is some software that will allow me to send torrents to my PC from the phone but for me its unnecessary.

Hey Everyone, thanks for the comments. Just so everyone knows, this is NOT an iPhone Application, it is simply a WEB SITE that “looks” like an App. This will work on an Instinct, Blackberry, Palm, etc. No part of this “webapp” requires an iPhone.

another work around is to setup a mininova account, which has the bookmark feature. setup your utorrent with your mini bookmark feed as RSS and set to auto download. Then browse mininova signed in and add torrents as bookmarks and voila.

@Copache, Like i said i dont have any of those products myself as am not a huge fan of Apple (and positively hate Macs – have them at work) but a pal of mine has it and when he brought it over had a prob getting it be a MSD on my win2k Pro and Vista Premium, and he couldnt get it to work at his place’s comps either.

I do like the looks of the ipods and the interface though, but will never get one because of the itunes crap (can anyone say bloatware?)… I have a simple Creative player that detaches in 2 uncovering a USB male that i can plug into nearly machine with a free USB slot and it works great… less memory than a ipod but ease of use and wayyy cheaper,good sound, plus dont have to send it back to the company for a battery change or fiddle with it via a DIY package sent to me by the ebay shops to do it myself.

Heck, just wanted to write a simple reply but its turned into a long one ;) guess my irritation with that “fruit company” is showing :p

i personally prefer to stick with a VNC or Remote Desktop app. That way you can also move files around on your PC/MAC and do other admin tasks.

You can use pods as MSD’s, no need for programs or jail breaking, just go my computer & pod appears as a HD, on mac go straight to pod docked on desktop to use as HD.

Not sure about the phone as im waiting for my nokia to die :]

I’m surprised there’s no mention of Transmission’s Web UI in the article. It too works well on the iPhone, but lacks the ability to add torrents.

iphones/ipods are great in my opinion
as for the DRM its called a jailbroke ipod, which makes it’s a whole lot less restrictive

there is also an app u can dl from apple that allows you to use your ipod/iphone as a hard drive

btw i hate macs
