A lot of fuss these days about The Piratebay raid, but nobody ever mentioned anything about seedler.org. Seedler, another BitTorrent site hosted at PRQ, has been taken down as collateral damage.

No word from them ever since…

Seedler started their BitTorrent site about a year ago and became quite popular within the next few months, settling among the top 5000 sites on the web according to alexa.

seedler

It is unclear how the illegitimate confiscation of seedlers server, that was intended to bring down the Pirate Bay, will affect seedlers future. Let’s wait and see.

once again another good site gone because greedy music execs and Bands how many time do we need another greatest hit by any band if these people would lower the price on CD’s then maybe peer to peer sites would not exits

Hopefully all servers etc will be returned..

It not a matter of if, but more like a matter of when – and how much in compensation for the illegal act perpitrated by these retards. Coercision and extortion of the affected sites and their ISP’s won’t be taken too lightly – I mean look at the public outcry @ taking down the big-bad TPB.

When will the MPAA and their cronies in the U.S. guv’mint learn that just because you don’t like something, it doesn’t give you the right to trample all over others rights (especially those of foreign nationals)? Then again this is just a bump in the road to the *AAs..Idiotic charades like these only serve to piss off judges over there, and each time puts another nail in their coffin, but the mobsters will just keep buying off the politicians in Sweden (and elsewhere) until they get their way (by either force or new regulations – look @ US w/ DMCA and possibly upcoming “DMCA v2.0″.

It’s funny really all this has done is HIGHLY publicize an issue that’s already an uphill battle for the Copywrong Mifia in Sweden. The Swedish gov’t, police and other involved will end up having to fork out god knows how much in reparations to site owners (and thier ISPs)..TPB is back up and running (even b4 most of the collateral damage)..And lots of people have signed onto a probably otherwise until until now unknown political party, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they get at least a few candidates ELECTED directly because of what’s happened here – in which case these wankers will be FORCED to listen to those dirty pirates. Comical really – it reads like a crappy nerd comedy movie version of Keystone cops or something..In fact, it would be funny as hell if something like this got made – I’d go see it, so long as the MAFFIAs had nothing to do w/ it.

Hey,

Thanks for the great coverage of piratebay, and now seedler. It’s good that someone is telling it like it is. A lot of the big news agencies are putting a lot of negative spin on the whole thing.

5 Jun 06, 2006 at 18:37 by fck_hollywood

oh no.. and what about my favorite site. asiandvdclub.org they also got shut down.. fucking swedish police lamers

6 Jun 06, 2006 at 18:38 by Dan

WTF is the 1st guy ‘Bert the Fart’ talking about?! CDs are the cheapest they have been for yonks! You can get a brand new CD just released for £6-8 in the UK, THEY HAVE OBVIOUSLY LISTENED! This argument is flawed now because it doesnt reflect reality, at least in the UK. Just be honest and say u want to download nicked stuff rather than blame the execs for something they are not doing anymore! I bet you have not looked at the price of a CD for years you scrounger! Watch out for that glass roof!

7 Jun 07, 2006 at 14:25 by THE MAN

Dan u wanker wth u on about brand new cds cost like £12-£15 u gay sodd anyways who needs to download music from torrent?? and the reason we r all so upset is cuz we want games and tv shows that r relased out in american be4 shitty england gets there hands on the shitty rights ( like a year later) so i recommend this

10 Jun 08, 2006 at 21:16 by Lamer Flamer

Straight up the Nova’s down?!?! Man I want break bones.. I used it to download American TV shows when i couldn’t be assed to wait for them to come out in the UK. Where the monkey jiz am I going to get them now? Any ideas. If anyone says Pirate bay, i’ll crap in a box and set fire to it. Thanks!

12 Jun 09, 2006 at 05:41 by donb

as seedler staff, I was as supprised at the site going down, and sure hope the servers are returned.

However, even if they are not, I’m sure seedler will find a new home soon. Both seedler.org, and forum.seedler.org were first rate, and had a huge following.

I am questioned every day about whats up with seedler, and all I can do is wait.

I am however certain that seedler will be back, and in a big way, so rest easy, and come join in the party when things are restored.

seedler its the best bring it back………..

14 Jun 09, 2006 at 11:05 by Dea

Hey I’m from Canada and I just recently started using seedler. It’s a great site for big files like let’s say movies or seasons to anime. I usually use Ares which is much like Kazaa, those two are good but its really hard to find every episode of a series. So I hope seedler really comes back cuz i just started using it and haven’t gotten to get used to it and really enjoy the heck outta it!

15 Jun 09, 2006 at 11:07 by Dea

Oh and one more thing CD’s are pretty expensive these days I worked at HMV and for a new CD it was like 20$ and thats expensive for something that you can get for free.

16 Jun 09, 2006 at 21:43 by anna

its not a case of noone asking about seedler as everyone i know is wondering if it has been shut down for good or not…it was my fav torrent site and i hope its up again soon as the last week has bn a nightmare without it

17 Jun 10, 2006 at 03:05 by gary

I have seen 30 + concerts in the last year because I support the bands we download. Music execs and corporate suits need to realize that we will pay for what we and the artists deserve, but the strangle hold on creativity is over. I and you will decide what we want to see and hear. Be fair and share!!! Fair prices and artist profit shares must be the rule. Emusic.com is a step in the right direction, but keep ur hands off the DL sites. I can’t begin to tell you how many bands I am one of the RABID fans of that the first listen was for free.

18 Jun 10, 2006 at 05:49 by fistula annais

I’ve only just seen this site. Seedler is sorely missed. For my pick, Seedler was (is/will continue to be?) the best torrent site about.

19 Jun 10, 2006 at 08:21 by MikaSharer

Thanks for the info DonB, been trying to find out whats happening for ages

20 Jun 10, 2006 at 12:33 by Adam

“if these people would lower the price on CD’s then maybe peer to peer sites would not exits”

Oh please. Would you really buy those cd’s/albums/whatever even for 2£, IF you can get them _totally free_ from p2p?

21 Jun 10, 2006 at 13:08 by MTTK

I just hope the site will be up again soon.
I’ve been trying to find my files @ other sites lately but it’s no use.
I can’t find the file’s I’m looking for or it’s crap with a capital C.
I have even considerd buying. but here (in The Netherlands) CD’s and DVD’s are so expensive I’d rather wait for seedler (or another great site).

- BTW, The Pirate Bay is mayor Crap!!!

25 Jun 11, 2006 at 14:27 by cocotheassclown

i live here in the us and am still wondering what the hell gives the mpaa and the riaa bastards the right to go to another contry and tell them what to do. why shut down a business thats not in their own backyard. i dont here about anyone from another country coming here to shut down macy’s. i dont here the chinese telling us how to make chinese food. why should we tell others how to share music.

26 Jun 11, 2006 at 15:17 by Slee

I do ’sample’ freely and I do buy when I like what I hear. ~50% of the albums I download, I buy afterwards. The half of them that were junk, I don’t buy and I don’t listen to them again anyway.
Occasionally, I run into a dilemma of an album I like being overpriced. I pay a max of $12 and if it’s more than I listen ‘freely’ until I find the album at a reasonable price.
I’m sure there are many people like me in this regard but admit that many more will never buy an album at any price no matter how good it is. Seedler was my favorite DL site (along w/ IH). Hopefully it will be back soon.

27 Jun 12, 2006 at 06:52 by badguy_stereotype

Taking out p2p servers (dont forget razorback) is just the begining, just wait for all the shit that’s going to rain over us when windows vista and next generation drm arrive. Their goal is to take profit for every second we listen, view and play and if not enough they want to know when we do it

I live in a country where €20 is the salary a common citizen earns for two hard working weeks i bet most musicians crap their pants if they know

If we ‘moneybags’ i mean costumers dont do something to stop this shit, we will end paying for sing in the shower

sorry my english is bad

28 Jun 12, 2006 at 13:46 by GOD DAMN IT

it sucks bed when there will be copy right laws just to sing in the show do it 3 times life in prison stupid retards need to quite crying over stupid little thing like “oh my god some one has down losdrd s song or a movie lets arrest them” u stupid dolt just let it happen u want us to like it u need to let us have it and money isnt everything u know u stupid dolt

Start a petition on myspace.com or something.

Get it spread worldwide and maybe they will realize we want our shit back.

Not just for seedler (even though I think its the most important), but for all the p2p and torrent sites that get jacked by “the good guys”.

31 Jun 15, 2006 at 04:10 by Pete

Seedler is definately missed. By far the best torrent site in my opinion!

32 Jun 15, 2006 at 12:10 by Pesti

Impress upon us the damage we’ve done to

Seedler has gone, a new one will come… It is natural evolution.

34 Jun 15, 2006 at 16:03 by sam

i agree and disagree with alot of stuff said above… movie and audio is way to expensive.. someone sai something about “if they were 2 quid would you buy that or download it for free” if cds were 2 quid i would pay for them, i like owning cds. i like reading through the covers, having a big stack of them in my room, heck i even like the smell of a fresh cd but at £12.99 a go, thats something im prepared to miss. seedler was the greatest torrent site, VIVA LA SEEDLER!

35 Jun 15, 2006 at 21:04 by abraham

say it

36 Jun 15, 2006 at 21:49 by viper

I agree that seedler will be sorely missed.

I agree that CD’s and DVD’s are too expensive.

The evolution of entertainment in the future will be around balance, what everyone is willing to pay and companies charging fair prices.

The filesharing process has tipped the balance in favour of the fans, mainly because the execs. weren’t fast enough to realise the implication of the emerging technology and got caught out.

The problem now is that because there hasn’t been a major evolution in the filesharing technology the execs. have caught up and the balance is going to tip back in their favour. It is likely that it will tip too far in the favour of the companies with a whole load of unintended consequences. Namely more government monitoring of the intranet,ISP’s and personal computer use. The companies will be keen to help Government capture the “online Terrorists” because they will in turn use the monitoring technology and information gained for their own tracking purposes.

The Solution

The same way that P2P technology was created by individuals for the benefit of the net and fans. It now needs to radically evolve,

1st issue)
A common standard for P2P files,so that the files scattered all over the net are in the same format and packed in the same manner. (this would speed up the distribution radically, as opposed to all the various hacker groups releasing the same stuff but in different formats)(Think big if you want this to work)
2nd Issue)
Where the files are located use the IP address of the PC they are stored on. Therefore we have to create a program that hides or encrypts the IP address and only decrypts it to let the program download onto the sharers PC.
If someone trys to decrypt or tamper with the file then it shreds the evidence (if it is cracked then this could be seen as tampering with the evidence and make prosecution more difficult)Plus if the encryption is good it can take a while to find the key.

I know this has been a very long post, and thanks for baring with me, but I think the net community has to put its collective heads together and come up with some good solutions, or the corporate boys will be fully back in the driving seat.

I’m missing seedler nowadays more than ever. I just sent my computer in for repairs so I didn’t really mind the downtime but now that i have it back, I WANT SEEDLER!

Is there any new news about this. Has anybody heard from Seedler himself? I was speaking to another well known member of seedler and he had no news at all. Pretty much what I’m trying to say is, bring seedler back asap.

38 Jun 16, 2006 at 22:02 by Mr

I want my seedler back!!!

39 Jun 17, 2006 at 07:17 by Soraiya

Whoa haha Donb is here as well.

Thanks everyone for your support with Seedler.org & its forum. We’re really sorry for this downtime.

I’ve been trying to contact Seedler too, but to no avail currently, but it’s no surprise because it was quite hard to contact Seedler himself when seedler.org was still functioning.

If the site & forum returns, we’ll be sure to e-mail all of you (i.e. if you registered at our site, or forum that is).

Kind Regards

Soraiya

Also, please regard this article only as a rumour, until the worst is confirmed.

I was on sunset strip, eating and drinking some wine. I over heard a guy say to his friend that he was glad seedler was gone. I got up and poured water in his lap. And said “FU Bitch”

Damn that felt good.

41 Jun 18, 2006 at 14:33 by Lanksa

I always download the albums in seedler before I buy them, because I don’t have a radio and here in germany you have to pay for listening it, unlike in countries like spain. And I am a student and I am poor, like the biggest part of their market is. So if I don’t fucking know how an album sounds like, do you people really think that I will spend more than 3 dollars or euros for it? Unless you really trust the band or the author, you can never know if you just buy blindly by the cover. And the albums I like then I save and buy them, and the ones I don’t like I delete them from my HD anyway because they suck. So closing peer to peer sites, from my humble position, hurts the bands far more. Reducing the prices indeed highers the possibilities that people buy it instead of downloading, but it is not the only alternative. Well, I said it.

Greetings.

You assholes are ruining entertainment and media. Music, movies, and software are all intellectual property that should be paid for. Just because its easier more trivial then stealing a car, its just as wrong. And by eroding away at labels, movie studios, and software companies, you’re ruining the quality of content.

Admit it, all of your favorite songs ever are by artists that were developed and improved by major labels. Indies still sign bullshit overhyped shit like the Arctic Monkeys and The Arcade Fire that no one really likes and won’t care about in three months.

Ever go on Myspace and hear the 2,000,000 god awful bands with no real way of seperating the wheat from the bullshit? That’s the future of entertainment. And for the people with real talent, it takes so long to build a career without centralized quality control that they’ll quit long before you’ll hear them. Congratulations.

I agree that music prices needed a revision. But all you internet wanks with a bullshit sense of entitlement and misguided hatred of “greedy music execs” are douchebags. Top talent will cease to exist if its not rewarded. Its called capitalism. While we’re at it, its unfair that doctors get paid more than nurses. Lets cut their salaries. I’m sure the quality of medical care and innovation will stay the same.

Pretty soon, all music will be terrible, all movies will be lame coming of age stories, every TV show will be like Wayne’s World, and the only thing people will listen to are stolen 80s greatest hits records.

43 Jun 18, 2006 at 19:08 by Zach

Bring on the 80’s greatest hits.

I’ll get my wig.

44 Jun 19, 2006 at 04:35 by MikaSharer

Sebastian, all movies and music coming out now is already shit, thats why I dont buy it

Its not like the music and movie companies have never ripped us off, ever seen a movie trailer and gone ‘ooh that looks good’ then seen the movie and it was absolute trash? Happens to me all the time, ever heard the single of a band, gone and bought the cd and found the album was shit? I know i have

I realise its a cliche now but what i like i buy, in the past 3 or so months ive bought about 30 dvd, 8 albums and a few music dvds

But as long as they continue to sell overpriced overhyped rubbish people will continue not buying it, they cant blame all their recent fortunes on downloading

47 Jun 21, 2006 at 22:20 by Vee

Sebastian, the way capatilisim is going all films are being geared to the lowest common denominator and just want profits. That is not what film making is about!
If i download a film i like and apreciate ill buy it as only good films are worth re-watching and those films are the ones you want a DVD for, but as films cost so much id rather not spend £15 on a DVD to find out a film is rubbish.

A Downloaded film dosent compare to a DVD in terms of quality, but im only going to pay for that quality if i feel the film deserves it.

48 Jun 22, 2006 at 00:58 by Roger

I have been using filesharing for years now and at first I agreed with some of the people that were against having the filesharing progams but nowadays my views have changed. The reason is that they say its just not good for business which I think is just full of shit. Have you ever seen the box office ratings for a movie lately dont seem to hurt the movie goers and that will always be the case. People will prefer to go to a theater to see a movie or buy a CD or watch a show on television and its not like these bands dont get perks or what not and they will still remain on top. I havent seen sales plummet in the CD market the most popular CD stores still remain open so what are these business people bitching about. Just shows how much greed they have. They need to dominate everything and just to say I am sad to see Seedler go as well it was my fav as well and I’ve used alot of P2P programs and this is a fav of all

49 Jun 22, 2006 at 05:13 by Sebastian

Mika, Roger, and Vee:

You stupid, self righteous and poorly informed motherfuckers. A few points:

1. Speak for yourselves. Though you claim to buy the movies and music which you steal and enjoy (which I sincerely doubt, you lying fucks) the rest of the planet is buying less music. Movies are less affected for now, but as hard drives get bigger and the internet gets faster and computers fuse more completely with television, mark my words, the same shit will happen to Hollywood.

2. There will always be bad art, bad products, bad everything. If you see a trailer for a movie and then hate it, its your own goddamned fault for getting suckered in. You don’t have to see any movie if you don’t want, and movies can’t be evaulated the same way you evaluate the purchase of a car. Take responsibility for your own actions instead of punishing the industry as a whole.

3. The “Lowest Common Denominator” encompasses most of the world, and they buy tons of shit, you elitist fuck. I’m sure some of the music and movies you like (Anchorman, Napoleon Dynamite perhaps? Know it all smucks love those stupid ass movies) are widely considered to be completely retarded, but you enjoy it. Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” is a masterful creation that appeals to everyone including the LCD. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Waking Life appeal to no one except hype sensitive posers, and suck balls. Thanks, indie scene!

4. CD Sales ARE plummeting, box office is down, and retailers are going bankrupt. Sales of Kanye West’s album (which was a hit and many people consider to be very good) pale in comparison to comperable artists in the 80s and 90s. Selling a million today is like selling 5 million a long time ago because of you theiving jerks.

5. Entertainment IS a business, like anything else. You can find bullshit art for the sake of art on neglected teenage poetry websites and in shitty art school shows. Commercial art is designed to please you, not some self serving artist cock. Granted there will always be crappy work, but in order to get really good work there need to be rewards and incentives, and it takes time to master your craft. Talented people aren’t going to bust their asses and dedicate themselves for 15 minutes of fame on ebaums world. They want money and recognition like anyone else. Don’t be idealistic and then contradict yourself.

6. Roger – Bands are still surviving, because the recording industry is still chugging along, barely. When there are no more labels, there will be no more big bands. Only local crappy ones, or local great ones who get discouraged and quit when they realize its nearly impossible to get big without the label system.

50 Jun 23, 2006 at 13:37 by downesyndrome man

U 3 stupid fucks who dont like people downloading shit is only because u didnt think of it first u waste your money while the rest of the world figures out how to save every penny we can if u r so stupid to buy some crap it is your own fault and u can fornacate your self with a hot iron rod u dolt quite your sorry ass crying and get with the program life isnt cheap our government is full of dicks and we r smarter then they r so fuck off get a life and like i said stop your bitching all because u didnt think of it sooner and now u have probably wasted tones of money

This message is for Sebastian.

I work a lot. I manage a higher end audio store/music store and I work in live audio and sound production. I work with mroe bands now than I ever did 5 years ago, more people want to get into the music scene and a lot of that has to do with how easy it is to now get your music heard due to P2P. Yes, this means there is more crap out there, but as a percentage that crap is the same amout that was out there 10 years ago too. There is more good stuff as well.

I deal constantly with customers who come in saying that they downloaded an album or heard a stream and want to pick up that bands CD, or order in their LP, or get their SACD.. whatever. I would say that easily 60-70% of people buying music nowadays have heard it over the internet somehow first.

I am not attacking you personally as you seem to want to do in your posts, I am merely pointing out some personal observances to let you see why I think that not all P2P is bad. I do wish more people would buy CD’s.. it is how I make my living, I do wich there was less crap filling up the market, but I also do like the choice and selection P2P brings. I now order in CD’s from all over the world of bands I have never heard of because some one requests them afer they heard them online.

If you want to swear, curse and attack me, go ahead, get it off of your chest; but I would also recommend that you go see someone about that fairly soon as it seems that you have a lot of built up anger.

52 Jun 25, 2006 at 14:47 by ANDRE

YEAH, SEEDLER DID RULE, BUT IN THE INTERIM I HAVE BEEN USING mininova.org AND torrentreactor.net. THEY ARE NOT THE GREATEST, BUT YOU CAN FIND *SOME* THINGS ON HERE NOW AND THEN… :)

53 Jun 25, 2006 at 23:21 by donb

Hi,

I am honored at all the kind regards towards seedler, and our staff… :)

I am also pleased to see a few names I remember from the forum.

As for the p2p haters here, I suggest you take your complaint to those who illegaly upload copyrighted material, as seedler has never pirated anything.

This is a plain fact. Seedler.org is an information site only, and hosts no copyrighted material what so ever.

I also encourge anyone here to buy any movie or album that you like.

now, I will end with this quote that I imagine will be heard world wide…

VIVA LA SEEDLER !!!

Seedler was a great site, and I’m sad that it has to have any downtime. Until I hear confirmation that Seedler has actually been shut down, I’ll hope for the best and expect the site to come back online.

In addition to what donb said about p2p haters: p2p doesn’t hurt anything. Record labels are still making money, maybe not as much, but still enough to keep thier bills paid and have a bunch left over.

Also, I, as a musician, would be honored that people want my music enough that they are prepared to steal it via the web. Any musician who says otherwise is not worth listening to.

I miss that site too. Hadn’t known about it for too lomng though, so used to just going to isohunt whenever I wanted to find something, or mininova. then when I discovered seedler I used it first!
It is a great shame but I have no doubt either they will return or another will fill the empty space it has left.
That is what these feckers in the copyright police organisations just do not get: Take one down, another three replace it. It is not unlike the ‘war on drugs’. and we all know just what a success that is eh!
Moronic waste of billions and so is this waar on p2p.

Well, these things happen, but ffs, what a big blow to the torrent community…. why the Hell did they tamper with fecking servers just to try to take out pirate bay…. surely they would have known shit loads of people would get the tail end of the chaos…. BURN the MPAA…

Seedler is still down. That was my favourite torrent site…

63 Jul 01, 2006 at 00:12 by sharer

FUCK these bitches.

64 Jul 02, 2006 at 16:55 by blackindigo

Seedler was the best Torrent site i ever used. i even got my dad using it and he is technologically challenged. he needed to find albums from the 70’s that he has on vinyl but wants to put on his MP3 player. I use ISOHUNT and Torrent Portal until the resurrection of Seedler.

65 Jul 02, 2006 at 21:01 by Dave G

I am in a band and have released a few albums and I don’t care if you download them cos we are all extremely rich already(mostly from the world tours). Also all record companies are blood sucking b*@strds(I should know I have been involved with enough). I used seedler when ever I threw a party and some guests asked for music I didn’t have I figured I can always buy it later. Bring it back cos Limewire sucks.

66 Jul 03, 2006 at 05:15 by Paul

I was just reading alot of the comments here and decided to toss in my two cents. I was a huge fan of seedler. I am a hardcore DVD collecter and I often buy films that I’ve never seen because the look good or come highly recomended.

I spend alot of money on Purchasing and would rather not pay an extra few bucks to rent a movie only to buy it later. I use P2P to see movies that I havn’t seen in theatres. While some individuals claim this is theft (especially if i don’t buy the film or T.V. series), I disagree. If I wouldn’t have seen the film in the theatre anyway the production company would have made next to no profit off of my rental. the only people I denying profit is my local videostore (sorry blockbuster!).

If anyone in the distribution or retail of film is reading this i have a suggestion. give me a discount on the purchase of your dvd with my ticket stub or sell me the dvd I rented at sales price minus the rental price. This way we both win.

Long live seedler!

Do you hear me? come back!

73 Jul 08, 2006 at 03:44 by megareggae

I am a poor american and can’t afford to go to the movies because of the freaking corporations. if it wasn’t for torrents, we wouldn’t get to see alot of uk tv shows either. if the music industry would start promoting artists that make GOOD music people would buy it. Instead all we get is puff daddy’s bullshit and whichever no talent slut will fuck sony execs like maria carey.

74 Jul 08, 2006 at 21:36 by Late

Sebastian,

Do us a favor and stfu you capitalistic objectivist retard. The condition of the music industry is no one’s fault but the execs. If they weren’t old retards, they’d have commercialized pirating made money on this whole thing. But, god forbid profits go down and the upper 1% loses money so that it’s cheaper for the 99%. Ah, fucked by greed, awesome.

This doomsday bullshit that Sebastian is spewing is all scare tactics. He’s a fucking corporate shill. Ignore him and his old ideas. Keep downloading shit until they enforce the laws, then steal the cds from the store.

i want seedler back…one of the best torrents

76 Jul 10, 2006 at 12:51 by Spitfire

Man, this sucks, I loved Seedler. I can understand why they would want to shut it down but I gotta wonder if they understand why sites like seedler are created in the first place. Here where I live in Australia CD’s and DVD’s are expensive to buy. Especially when you only get $210 a fortnight. $20 – $35 for a CD and $25 – $40 for a DVD. Plus there are movies that others get that are banned from Australia. For example the recent movie See No Evil, it looks like it is getting banned from being viewed because the rating companies think it’s too gruesome. Now how the hell am I supposed to get the movie??? I can’t afford to go overseas to get it, and I can’t get it here. My only option is to download through websites such as seedler.

77 Jul 10, 2006 at 15:54 by Skeeps

Hi donb!
great to find you, funnily enough I miss the forum, actually made quite a few friends on that, espesh when they realised I’m not a ‘he’ I’m in fact a ’she’ He-he!
Seedler was fantastic. What a shame, I hope the creators are ok. and even if they can’t get it running again, might I say, thankyou.

78 Jul 10, 2006 at 16:14 by Pinkleton

Sebastian you poor boy! Kelly Clarkson Masterfull? Ha!

I miss seedler very very much – PS try torrentz.com it serches all the major sites, which is handy!

79 Jul 11, 2006 at 22:19 by CH_Stoney

Hmmm. Sebastian, you´re right, you´ve showed us all. Just… I downloaded only a few movies and TV series. Some of them were not released on DVDs i my country yet and some never will (like Monty Pythons). So whom have I robbed? The artists in those movies got paid for their work years ago, just as the producents did. And last point – movies make most profits in cinemas and TVs (only the succesful ones get on DVD) and musicians earn enough money for living by playing in concerts. So DVD or CD could be five or six times cheaper (as it sometimes already is) and thus be more affordable to people with less money, without doing any real harm to anyone. Todays prices like 25U$D per Movie are for me just proof of greedines.
For me, seedler was chance to see movies i could only hope incidentaly watch in night TV program.

Hope it will soon be up again
Miss Seedler

81 Jul 13, 2006 at 10:12 by Viper

I don’t know who sebastian is but he needs a major head check, or a change to his posting approach.

a) Other people can have an opinion its not right or wrong, but a different viewpoint.

b) Just because they don’t see things from your perspective doesn’t make them your enemy.

c) If you are trying to make a point and change someones viewpoint it isn’t the best approach to call them retards, motherfuckers … blah blah whatever

Finally if you can’t engage in a rational debate then please go and play on your playstation and leave the adults to talk.

82 Jul 13, 2006 at 16:14 by Skeeps

Seedler was the best!! All the other sites are always slow or don’t have what i’m looking for. Seedler needs to come back!

90 Jul 27, 2006 at 13:48 by toyyou2jp

I did realise that seedler.org disappeared on June 7 because I surfed it everyday. I have tried my best to check where it went but obviously all news about seedler.org was sealed off by the police. People only concentrates on thepiratebay.org because news about its shutdown by police is all over internet! I have guessed right that seedler.org was linked to thepiratebay.org somehow. And that’s why it was also shut when thepiratebay.org was raided by police force. It’s sad for me. Since the shutdown of both important sites, I hardly get and find movies(dvd-format,dvd iso files) which I want.

91 Jul 27, 2006 at 13:53 by toyyou2jp

During the whole summer holiday, I was looking for dvd movies in internet. However, the shutdown of thepiratebay and seedler make me impossible to seek what I want. The rest of BT sites provide outdated movies or CAM version only. They have lots of DEAD links but they don’t even clean them up.

A little message to the members here who desire to download full DVD movies. I suggest you try downloading dvdrip in Kvcd format. You could download a dozen movies in the time it takes to get one full dvd. Why Kvcd? its simple… A full commercial dvd is often near 8,000mb in size, and needs to be shrunk down to 4.38gb to fit a dvdr disc. A kvcd is designed to burn to a cdr disc, and is about 800mb, and when played in your dvd player, gives near dvd quality. You are no doubt wondering how a kvcd can give good quality when it is 1/10th the size of a dvd?, well the answer is quite complex, but suffice it to say that kvcd is designed to display direct to your tv screen so no resolution is wasted in providing pixels that cannot be displayed. It also uses complex software to adjust the video bit rate higher for parts of the video that require it, and lower for parts that do not. This allows for a full legnth movie to be burn onto one standard cdr disc. However, encoding in kvcd is an art, and all kvcd encodes are not the same. If any of my friends here would like to try some of the best kvcd encodes on the net, I suggest you visit tus-kvcd-group.org, and enjoy the countless movies we have to offer.

97 Aug 05, 2006 at 03:21 by donb

Update,

We are in the process of moving the “tus” site. A couple weeks ago when a flaw was discovered in the IPB software that many forums use cause ours and many other forums to go offline, we realized that our host was clueless to help us resolve this issue, so we are again moving to a new host. If all goes well it will be up and running this weekend. (message posted friday august 4th 2006)

98 Aug 05, 2006 at 03:34 by donb

The two best I use are mininova and isohunt. They arn’t “seedler”, but are both good, and not infiltrated with addware crap like some I’ve seen.

sorry about above,
didn’t realise that TUS had been out for a month… my bad

111 Aug 13, 2006 at 11:57 by donb

Hi all,

I’m sorry for our site being offline. Tus kvcd group has been offline for almost two weeks, not a month.

We are moving our server, and will surely be back.

All our tus movies are posted on Demoniod and Sladinki forums. They often get picked up by mininova and others as well.

Now before any rumors start, Tus is having technical problems with our host, so please don’t think the worst :)

If any of our friends would like to stop by and say hi, both soraiya and I are staff at bitcomet’s forum. “forum.bitcomet.com”

Nem and I are both staff at “dieseldownloads.com”

and my “home” will always be “tus-kvcd-group”, even if its temporarly offline.

finally somebody had the guts to say what’s it all about. It’s no real use trying to make others look like greedy bastards when you (or you) are downloading mostly stolen stuff – don’t tell me that its public property. If the guys want a million bucks for a song its their right to demand it – i’ll maybe steal it if I think its good, won’t buy it for sure. But its their goddamn right to demand it/ or maybe you think the pornstars you download are doing this for the heck of it? think again. Have some respect for the people who were smart enough to for instance establish a printing house or a record company. its their problem if the prices are too high and stealing will surely bring them to lower it. But it will be stealing. I for myself am not going to pay for most of the stuff, so I’m stealing it/
respect for those people who simply lower their prices or give stuff for free with the hope that somebody will pay them voluntarily (like beggar-ware and so on)

yeah, for a moment I thought seb. had some points worth discussing but his nex post successfully discouraged me. just like the seb. haters that followed. the people in favour of p2p are not blessed with the eternal right to be right.

anyway in 50 years we are all gona live in a matrix – and not this bloody one from the bloody stupid movie. More like Niven and stuff – will be nice and possibly also thanks to p2p, who knows
I think the inteligent computer (or neuro net) in those later O. S. Card novels (Ender ones) can be said to be a p2p personality as well…

I’m a Canadian who uses p2p. I find it hard to believe that there is no possible solution to the current state of file-sharing. Being a tech-savvy individual, who makes his living in the digital environment, all I can say is that something smells fishy. Why is it I can make a living (pretty decent might I add) with free web-based services and they, with all their resources, cannot? Simple, their pyramid scheme would come crumbling down.

They key to most of the money in the entertainment biz is licensing and distribution. If you no longer control distribution, the costs cannot be used as leverage against the rights of the actual creators of said works. In short, record companies and movie houses use the “so-called” costs of duping and distributing as excuse for larger-than-reality cuts of profit incurred from a work. It took them 50+ years to perfect this scheme and they don’t want it to change. But it is and they’re scared. If they decide to change they’ll have to explain to many folks why suddenly it’s cost-effective and why they didn’t adopt a better solution when it was presented to them… and where all the money went before. I’m sure the shareholders would be interested as well.

All this to say, the electronic revolution has just begun… and in the best of ways. Discussion and development. We’re making the tools to prove that distribution on mass-scale is feasible… in spite of naysayers. We’re using it to the full potential that it HAS to have to be viable on mass-scale. iTunes already proves this, although their scheme isn’t the best, but the best we have.

Now all we need is someone to clue into the possibilty of creating an endless network of content that is totally downloadable with a network access fee of, let’s say, 10$ a month. We’re sitting on the new television (or radio for that matter) and we can’t get anyone to admit it. A shame really. Because record and movie companies could cut their costs into a quarter of what it is and still churn out more sales than currently.

Necessary Note:
I buy a lot of music and movies. Into the thousands of dollars per year. Yet I discover most of what I like through p2p. Before napster I may have spent hundreds of dollars on said works in a year. Now it’s a huge part of my lifestyle and a lot of it is due to p2p. The resource, in-and-of-itself, is the best resource anyone has ever had in publicity and cost-effective marketing. The user wins and companies would surely win if they take notice. I don’t use p2p to steal, but to educate myself on what is out their for consumption without anyone telling me what I should like or dislike. It’s entirely democratic and noone has been able to prove otherwise.

send me a PM and I will get you his username/s in these forums.

oh, still no word about what happened to seedler, but I know it was alot of work to keep the site running, and updated, so perhaps seed dude just needed a break.

Mininova has a very good selection of torrents, in fact, if it wasn’t for their search not updating and very slow server/s, I would say they were almost as good as seedler.

im sorry to say that although cheap cd’s may be the norm elsewhere, here in aust, im not willing to pay $32+ for new releases. 6 or 7 years ago when the govt introduced parallel importing, they promised a drop in prices. it didn’t deliver & as an aside, gutted the local music publishing industry which is now dominated by large, get rich quick producers.

i have legit copies of nearly every piece of music that i’ve dloaded but i like the option of trying b4 i buy. @ current prices, i think i’m entitled to that privelege.
