ShareTV.org: TV Torrents Made Easy
Written by Ernesto on February 10, 2007The goal of shareTV.org is to make finding the latest, and best seeded TV episodes as easy as possible, even for people who are new to BitTorrent.
A website dedicated to TV torrents is nothing new. There are plenty sites that index and categorize TV-torrents, but no site is as easy to use as this one, says Chris Richmond, the admin of shareTV.org.
He told TorrentFreak: “The goal of the site is to make downloading TV shows as easy as possible. We are trying to make it simple for someone with no BitTorrent experience to download TV shows. And we try to list the torrent for each episode which has the most seeds.”
ShareTV.org started last week and currently indexes 30 TV shows. This is not the definite list, and more shows will be added in the coming weeks. RSS feeds are available for every show, and there will be a bookmarking feature, as well as personalized RSS feeds in the near future. The only drawback is that you need to login, before you can make use of these features, and download the shows.
(Downloading TV shows can be illegal in some countries. If it is in yours, consider moving to another country or collect the torrents just for fun!)

i signed up for share tv but as in the article the admin did say that he wants to make it as easy as possible to download TV torrents. The layout of the site is great but it’s a bit to simple. It shows no peers no seeders but it shows a green line indicating the health of the torrent. But it’s a very pleasent site i would surely check it out.
If you leave your mouse on the health bar for a second the number of seeders/peers will appear.
What’s really missing is a torrent client mix with Dzobias Rar Player. The client could set a file downloading order (rar, r00,…) so we can start a download and 5 minutes later we can view the video in “real time”. I already do it but it’s a little too manual…
I sometimes do the same thing as you Nice Guy, a client that could handle that would be sweet!
You know http://www.eztvefnet.org is much better. Do we need another TV site for torrents?
you’re not making it as easy a possible, since you require users to create a login. why would I choose this site over the eztv one mentioned above?
The account just requires a username/email and will be used for things like bookmarking shows, personalized rss feeds, etc.
And when a new user is not logged in it shows them the software needed (bittorrent/vlc) before downloading. I suppose I could make accounts optional.
The site has only been up for a week, but the goal is take all the best tv torrents from the web (including eztv) and put them in a user-friendly format.
this is illegal right
@ Aaron: Depends on your jurisdiction.
signing up ? does that sound easy to you? anyone can tell you that signing up is the most annoying and time consuming process anyone can make you do so it cant possibly be easy.

Hehe…
Good idea. Unfortunately it’s redundant and badly implemented :)
Amazing….

We’re getting thousands and thousands of visitors from our entry on digg. The site’s only been online a little over a week. I was caught off guard with this much traffic. I asked the editor of torrentfreak.com to announce the new site. I never dreamed it would do so well.
[\]Amazing…
On topic:
Nice site to keep track of which episodes are on the net available, downloading is still better on non registered tracker.
nice link!
Accounts are now optional. There is twice as many shows. And RSS is now fully functional.
Downloading on open trackers is pretty poor, but then making these users register in order to use a site like this seems quite pointless.
Sure some of the features may require a user account, but why not allow the other features to people who do not wish to create an account, will only boost satisfaction to the users coming to such a site, which is surely the ideal thing for both those closing their browsers with a smile as their favourite show downloads and you (sharetv who are apparently reading this) who want more users using your site.
Of course private trackers will still remain better for those willing to uphold a ratio on them, and take the time to sign up, especially if they already know from a friend/associate that the site is good, especially for fast uploads, and speeds with fast line uploaders (100mbit (1gbit preferred) seeding boxes) and all round good communities.
Having said that, what you’ve set up seems like a good idea for those who tend to stick with the public sites, not hosting the torrents yourself doesn’t make your users registered need to worry about ratio’s, but enforcing registration as a requirment is only likely to lose you possible users which in turn will probably lose you money (haven’t gone to link yet to look, will do that in a minute).
IMO you should allow users to browse torrents etc. without any registration needed, also adding seeders, leechers, it will make downloading torrents much easier for the users, especially those inexperienced ones, I’ve got so sick of teaching people about how private site’s work etc, I’ve given up on doing that kind of thing anymore.
Additional Note:
glad to see you have enabled users the ability to download torrents without registering to the site. ;)
What some of you are missing is that when a torrent gets more traffic it will generally become a stronger torrent. If this site generates a ton of traffic for the torrent it will get faster and stronger.
I’m a firm believer in the private sites (I’m a member of Demonoid and RevolutionTT) but people who don’t know what they’re doing will usually be booted from a private site rather quickly. Also there are usually a few seeders in the public torrents that know what they are doing and will keep seeding. It can suck for them, but well, they started the torrent.
http://tvrss.net has the vtv and the eztvnet torrents. No registration required. Site works really well.
I think http://spotep.com/spotted is the best site for following tv shows via torrents.
Very nice layout and no registration
