But it just seems unrealistic to expect that these massive creative undertakings (like series and movies and albums) need the organization of some kind of company, with creative executives and support staff.

I love artists, and have worked with all kinds. Many are happiest when they are doing what they enjoy: creating. Not building an infrastructure, budgeting, raising capital, or handling the thousands of details that go with running a business.

And that's the kindest possible way of putting it. The more realistic way of putting it is that many artists would be completely out-of-their-element if left to handle the production side of their projects. Sure, you might have some works of inspiration and genius created by your "artists only" system, but you'd probably also have a lot of blown budgets, self-indulgent crap, and low-quality projects that have almost no production value.

The reason I'm guessing it would happen this way is because artists are currently absolutely free to create their projects independently. Of the great films, albums, and TV series out there, very few of them were created independently by the artist. They usually need help, support, and people of other talents.

>If you destroy copyright, you destroy the system of making larger-production songs, shows, and content.

That's a good start then, because that would be BETTER than the current situation where copyright is in the hands of the corporation, instead of the hands of the artist.

I am not against copyright. I am for the right to copy and only for the artist and consumer to profit from that. Corporations are the leading cause of losses for the artist AND consumer.

I feel I have covered this. The television market is not about direct content sales and complaining about illegal sharing of TV shows is closer to complaining about illegal sharing of commercials. Those itunes/amazon/whatever 1.99$ sales do not even come close to the revenue potential of product placement, Ads, syndicatoin, etc. So, no, streaming or watching a show does not generate direct sales revenue but neither does showing it on TV. The more a show is shared (at no cost to the network) the more it is talked about and demanded and the easier it becomes to convince a regions providers to accept a syndication of the show. TV business does not compare to music and film, it has an entirely different economic system.
