Ok, I hate piracy too, but you don't really have your facts straight. Come on man, the French Resistance hid and used covert ops. They didn't announce their intentions publicly.

I'm sorry, but you're just wrong. Pirates are anonymous because of the nature of the medium they use to communicate and because piracy is still illegal, not because of any unique moral flaws.

I would like to see any evidence that shutting down all these various file sharing clients have had any effect on revenues of the recording industry.

I would say none. The sales of cd's is history. Who buys cd's anymore? Kids have so many distractions now days that music is not that important. If my kids want a a track they download the mp3 of one of many free mp3 sites. They don't even use the itunes card to buy songs only an occasional app. They also use Youtube for listening to music. My kids hardly listen to radio anymore.

Of course any file sharing app that promotes itself showing illegal downloads will be shot down. Promote it as a good way to share home movies and linux distro's. Apple and it's ecosystem won't be king of the hill forever. File sharing in one form or another is likely to continue. For over a hundred years ships have based themselves where laws and taxes are the most favorable In the same way file sharing developers need to do the same and incorporate where it is the most favorable and where copyright orgs would have the hardest time attacking.
