“The consortium plans to design a logo that will be placed on products and websites to let consumers know that those products and services are compatible with DECE standards.”

Wow, a really big move here by the big boys to design a logo!

“We will be developing a … specification that services and device makers can license. They can use the logo to associate their device, knowing that when the consumer goes to buy the content, they know it will play,” Singer said.”

What we want is non DRM stuff. This already plays on everything, so why bother big boys.

And the logo should be DIVX as I have lots of DIVX enabled products like my DIVX DVD player and also my PC/laptops

yea exactly, if piracy was banned by isp’s too, then alot of use wouldnt need such high speeds and im sure alot of people would downgrade there package, i only have 10mb line but its only for films if my isp filtered and made it awkward to get them id go back to the 4mb line

and about sonys new drm thing,i would never pay for a digital download as id much rather a copy on cd\dvd if it wa costng money, something i can physicly hold, swap or sell ig get bored with it, i only get the digital downloads now as there FREE!

i still buy my vinyls tho xD

Don´t really agree with ISPs gaining something from cooperation – yes, downstream would be spared and can so be oversold more, but why would anyone even want that much bandwidth if there´s nothing to do with it. Why on Earth would you need 10+ Mbit? Do you really download that often legal material that you need so much speed? Some dozen Linux ISOs, a handful of black and white movies whose copyright has expired, some HD videos meant to promote the medium… then what? YouTube & friends? 2-3Mbit is more than enough for those, all that extra that you´re paying for just sits there idly…
In other words: piracy drives the Net, wether ISPs accknowlede it or not all that access that they can sell is, atleast partially, made possible by pirates who want to get more and more stuff faster and faster.

is this person stupid or what . sony still manufacture and selling dvd writer camcorder and related stuff that MPAA claim to be main cause of piracy . I wonder who would listen to such nonsense .

I recon the reason why the Music industry is loosing money (so they say) is because people DON’T WANT TO BUY CRAP MUSIC!!! and now they don’t have too either…

I like to mix drum and bass. I have around 500 tracks and i still want alot more. If i payed for the records it have cost me 3000 Pounds.. Plus i wouldn’t know about all the less popular artist.

So if they manage destroy piracy, they destroy my hobby of mixing drum and bass to a certain extent at the same time..

An annual loss of 200 billion is probably a deliberate overstatement used to fuel animosity towards “piracy” (I hate that word), but I hope it is true. Filesharing is the best way to boycott ginormous industries while still obtaining the product.
