I still think dat if your .net is shtty den your speed won't get any better, but if da tips help den it must be dat some former uTorrent's config dat didn't real fit wiff yar pc, so da speed would had been limited…da rest still depends on seeders tho….

yes you can. I just followed through with the tip, and it's a big help. As soon as i did it my downloading time went from 400kb to 700kb for the new windows software

I changed the half open limit from 10 to 38. I went from getting speeds from maybe around 200kb/s on a good day to 700 kb/s consistentley every day. I have vista and i coudlnt change it for the longest time, but bit comet 1.02 i guess has the patch in the software and allows for vista users to do this, so you dont have to go through the whole hassle of trying to manually patch it. I guess im going to fill up my 120gb external pretty quickly. I suggest if your having this problem with vista download the new version it worked for me

THE BEST WAY TO SPEED UP UTORRENT IS FOR EVERY 1 TO PUT UNLIMITED SPEED FOR UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD. with the upload speed on max they do not slow your download speed as they use a different port

REMEMBER – - – - The speed at which you download torrents is still limited by your base internet speed. If you have a 512k connection, for example, there is no way you can “tweak your settings” so that you get 700-800k speeds.

Bitcomet is much more faster than Âµtorrent for me now (both latest versions)… used the same tweaks for both, downloading the same file, with a 1 mbps line.

With the tweaks applied to the latest Âµtorrent (1.7.7). None of the problems (as described in the previous posts) such as can’t surf firefox/IE arise.

With Âµtorrent my speed was around 22kB max, but with Bitcomet it was 105kB max.

The only thing that I’ve not tried is getting my rank higher than a rookie with Bitcomet. Seems that the higher your rank is.. the faster your downloads are… so to speak. Guess only time will tell. :)

For people saying that you have 54Mbps, this is most likely your modem/router that you have connected to the internet, and not the actual speed of your connection to the internet. It’s how fast the wireless signal travels from the router to your wireless card/adaptor in your laptop/computer. People always seem to get this mixed up for actual internet speed.

Speed is limited by your isp. try to make 50 global connetions and abaout 30 peer to torrent it will help you. If you use 1000 connetions it will make a traffic to slow down.

I dont recommend installing the patch or increasing your max half-open TCP it lets viruses in.

It is supposed to slow down viruses because their spreading strategy is to connect to a high amount of ip numbers, but it also cripples your torrent downloads.
