don’t know about that ….. for me if it was a movie that i thought was worth while, i’d do to the cinema to watch. Not watch it twice on pc and then cinema. It’s a spoiler otherwise X_X;

Just because pirates can get something for free doesn’t mean they’re not going to pay…. There have been several studies that show pirates spend more than non-pirates. Or that sales of a particular book/song/movie/etc actually increase once it becomes available to be pirated…

I’m, for example, considering trying to score tickets to see Doctor Who’s series 8 premier in cinema on IMAX, even though I already get it for “free” (via my cable subscription) and could, if I so chose, download it shortly after it airs in the UK – or even now if I can’t wait (assuming I don’t mind a black & white work print).

1 – he was asked about HIS movie being leaked, not a general question. And there are not that many producers running around for “thousands” to loose out even with everything. That would be nearly every person producing, and board member of every corp loosing out.

2 – big companies don’t pick up movies, they pick up scripts to make movies of. if movies “crash” it’s because they pay way too much for crap movies no one wants to see. Case in point, the one horror series (Paranormal_Activity). the first one cost like $15,000 to make and made near 200 million worldwide. Why because it was a good movie people wanted to see. spend 500 million on a movie that only makes 200 because it’s crap and no one wants to see… sure let’s blame the pirates for killing the movie…

3 – smaller producer’s and projects fail usually due to lack of advertising budget and getting word out, or they are crap as well. Not because someone set a cam and pirated it and stopped their “big break”. Good ones usually get word of mouth and go somewhere. You know, those little indie films like Pulp Fiction. Many other examples of indie films going big, due to being good.

Please do yourself a favor and actually learn some of the entertainment inside. Help you understand things a bit better. I have seen first hand how things can go, due to knowing and watching a local group go big, you may have heard of them… Blue Man Group. Same goes with film as stage, it’s good, it moves, its crap, it fails.

Bottom line – if piracy was so bad and the industry was loosing so much money… WHY are they still breaking box office records? WHY are they having record profit years?
